Link to Existing DNS Hierarchy
Provide your domain name and the names and IP
addresses of your domain name servers to the
parent servers so that your domain can receive
queries from other domains.

Determine what information is configured on other
name servers. You can also use this option as a
troubleshooting tool to check whether a specific
name server is responding.
<Esc>=Exit Help <PgDn>=Next

Master Zone and Subzones Help Help 1 of 2
This screen displays the zones (domains) and
subzones managed by this master DNS server. If
this DNS master is managing subnets, you may have
multiple master zones. If this DNS master is not
managing subnets, the first domain listed is the
master zone and each additional domain is a
subzone managed by this master.
Each zone consists of a domain or set of domains
and each domain has one or more database records
associated with it.
<Esc>=Exit Help <PgDn>=Next
Master Zone and Subzones Help Help 2 of 2
A full domain name can consist of up to 255
characters. Names for DNS domains are integrated
into the names of the domains above. At the top
of the domain is the root and its name is
represented by a dot or period. If this DNS
master is managing subnets, the domain names are
represented by the subnetwork number.
From this list, you can do the following:
<Insert> Add a zone or subzone.
<Delete> Delete a subzone. (You cannot delete
the master zone.)
<Enter> Display a list of the name servers
that service the master zone or
specified subzone.Z
Record Type Help Help 1 of 2

information in that domain

Link Indirect via Forwarders Help 1 of 1
Use this form to list servers to act as
forwarders. These servers speed up the DNS
query process by forwarding queries to other
domains.
This form contains the following fields:
Forwarder #1
The IP address of the first designated
forwarder.
Forwarder #2
The IP address of the second designated
forwarder.
Forwarder #3
The IP address of the third designated
forwarder.
Replica Databases Help Help 1 of 2
This list displays the domains for which this
server keeps a read-only copy of the DNS database.
Updates to the information maintained on the
master name server automatically propagate to the
replica databases.
After you create the DNS replica, this name server
becomes an authoritative source of DNS information
for the domain. This redundancy improves the
stability of the network in case the master
name server goes down.
<Esc>=Exit Help <PgDn>=Next
Replica Databases Help Help 2 of 2
From this list, you can do the following:
<Insert> Add a replica.
<Delete> Delete a replica.
<Enter> Display information on a specific
replica.
Root Domains Help Page 1 of 1
"Root Domains" are the highest domains in the domain hierarchy eg. in
the case of Internet its "." (root), "edu.", "com." etc. Nameservers
servicing these domains are "all knowing" since they have enough
information to lead one to any other part of the domain tree. So,
its very important that your Netware nameserver knows the addresses
of at least a few of the "root nameservers" so as to have complete
access over the domain tree. If this information is missing or
incorrect, the Netware nameserver will work only in a limited way
i.e. it'll be able to provide information only on the zones for which
it is authoritative (exported & imported databases) but no information
on any other part of the domain tree.
In fact, in this setup, you can list domains from any part of the
domain tree (not strictly ".") and the nameservers servicing those
domains.f
Replica Database Information Help Help 1 of 2
This form allows you create and view
information for a replica DNS database on this
server. The replica is a read-only copy of the

Link to Existing DNS Hierarchy Help 1 of 1
This menu displays the options associated
with linking to the existing hierarchy. You
must link your domain to the existing DNS
hierarchy to receive queries from other
domains.
This menu contains the following options:
Link Direct
Provide your master name server's IP
address to the root domain.
Link Indirect via Forwarders
Provide your master name server's IP
address to specific name servers of other
domains. Use this option to list name
servers of other domains that you query
often.
Manage Master Database Help Help 1 of 1
This menu displays a list of options
associated with managing the master database.
This menu contains the following options:
Manage Data
Manage resource records.
Delegate Subzone Authority
Delegate the authority of a subzone to a
master name server.
Delegate Subzone by IP Authority
Delegate the authority of a subzone to a
master name server identified by an IP
address.
Name Server Addresses Help Help 1 of 1
This screen displays the address of the
specified name server. If an IP address does
not appear in this screen, you must configure
the host using the "Manage Global Objects"
option.
Name Servers Help Help 1 of 1
This list displays the name servers servicing
the specified domain.
From this list you can do the following:
<Insert> Add a name server.
<Delete> Delete a name server.

Root Domains Help Help 1 of 2
This list displays specific root domains.
"Root Domains" are the highest domains in the
domain hierarchy, for example in the Internet
these domains are "." (root), "edu.", "com.",
and so forth.
When you start the DNS server, it is linked
to the DNS hierarchy and root domains
automatically.
Use this list to link to another domain
directly. This enables queries for the listed
domain to go directly to a name server
servicing that domain without the overhead of
using the root name servers.
<Esc>=Exit Help <PgDn>=Next
Root Domains Help Help 2 of 2
From this list, you can do the following:
<Insert> Add domain.
<Delete> Delete a domain.
<Enter> Display the name servers for the

service. Use this list to select the
specific master for which you want to create a
subzone.
From this list, you can do the following:
<Enter> Select a subnet partition for
which you want to create a
subzone.
Subzones Cannot be Created Help 1 of 1
You cannot create a subzone beneath any of
the available subnets because you cannot use
the fourth octet to specify a subnet.
For example, you could create the following
subzones from the subnets listed below:
SUBNET SUBZONE OF THE SUBNET
130.57.0.0 -----> 130.57.6.0
130.56.0.0 -----> 130.56.7.0
However, you cannot create additional subzones
beneath either of the existing subzones
because you already used the third octet.
