  15. ABSTRACT:
  16. PTF41X.TXT describes the process which must be followed when unzipping
  17. PTF410.EXE, PTF411.EXE, PTF412.EXE, PTF413.EXE, PTF414.EXE, and PTF415.EXE.
  18.  It also describes, in less detail than the READMEs in the PTFs, the
  19. problems addressed and features added.

  32.   I.  Installation Instructions:
  33.  
  34.     1.  The following instructions MUST be followed:
  35.         A. If you have NetWare for SAA running in a NetWare 4.0 or 4.01
  36. server download:
  37.            PTF410.EXE
  38.            PTF411.EXE
  39.            PTF414.EXE
  40.            PTF415.EXE
  41.  
  42.         Note:  PTF412.EXE and PTF413.EXE are not needed for a NetWare 4.0
  43. server.
  44.  
  45.         B. If you have NetWare for SAA running in a NetWare 3.11 or 3.12
  46. server download:
  47.          PTF410.EXE
  48.          PTF411.EXE
  49.          PTF412.EXE
  50.          PTF413.EXE
  51.          PTF414.EXE
  52.          PTF415.EXE.
  53.  
  54.     2. You MUST unzip according to the following instructions.  Simply
  55. copying the files in will NOT work.
  56.  
  57.        Each of these self extracting, zipped files contains a script,
  58.        corresponding to the installation script on a diskette.
  59.        - The -d parameter MUST BE USED.
  60.        - The <path> is the complete DOS path to these files.
  61.  
  62.     3. Make a directory called CEUPDATE and put PTF410.EXE, PTF411.EXE,
  63. PTF412.EXE, and PTF413.EXE into it.  You can use either a DOS partition or
  64. a NetWare partition.
  65.  
  66.     4. Make a directory called NWSAAUPD and put PTF414.EXE and PTF415.EXE
  67. into it.
  68.  
  69.     5. Change to the CEUPDATE directory and type:
  70.         PTF410 <enter>
  71.         PTF411 <enter>
  72.         PTF412 <enter>  *for NetWare 3 server only
  73.         PTF413 <enter>     *for NetWare 3 server only
  74.         pkunzip COMMEXE1 -d  <enter>
  75.         pkunzip COMMEXE2 -d  <enter>
  76.         pkunzip COMMEXE3 -d  <enter> *for NetWare 3 server only
  77.         pkunzip COMMEXE4 -d  <enter> *for NetWare 3 server only

  79.         NOTE: If you do not use the -d parameter the proper directory structure
  80. will not be established.

  82.     6. Change to the NWSAAUPD directory and type:
  83.         PTF414 <enter>
  84.         PTF415 <enter>    
  85.         pkunzip NWSAA2 -d  <enter>
  86.         pkunzip NWSAA1 -d  <enter>
  87.  
  88.         The environment to perform the Communication Executive installation as
  89. described in the NetWare for SAA 1.3 Administration Guide will then exist.
  90.  
  91.     7. **IMPORTANT** PTF410.TXT unzipped into the CEPUPDATE directory,
  92. please read it for instructions on how to then install the files.

  94.     Note:
  95.     PTF 410 COMMEXE1.ZIP = Communications Executive Support Modules
  96.     PTF 411 COMMEXE2.ZIP = Communications Executive Modules
  97.     PTF 412 COMMEXE3.ZIP = System File Update (for 3.11 only)
  98.     PTF 413 COMMEXE4.ZIP = BTRIEVE files (for 3.11 only)
  99.     PTF 414 NWSAA1.ZIP     = NetWare for SAA Update (part 1)
  100.     PTF 415 NWSAA2.ZIP     = NetWare for SAA Update (part 2)

  102.   II. The PTF41X series updates SAA 1.3 to SAA v1.3.43 which is effectively
  103. the same as the version 1.3B which as about to ship.  It provides:
  104.     1. All of the current "bug fixes".  (see PTF410.TXT for a list)
  105.     2. Compatability with Netware 4.0 and 4.01.
  106.     3. The following new features:
  107.        A. TRFORMAT.EXE now decodes LUx information.
  108.        B. HELP file added to WEEAS for OS/2 access support.
  109.        C. SNMP alert support for NMS, added generic MLID object for 3rd
  110. party driver support.
  111.        D. NetWare Management Agent
  112.           1) Remote 3 adapter now compatible with SSM.
  113.           2) Flow of NetView alerts is now restricted if a limit is
  114. exceeded.  This is configurable through NVCMDS.DB.
  115.          3) A NetView alert will be generated if registered end point servers
  116. go  down.
  117.          4) Allow RUNCMD retry limit, retry timer and response timer are now
  118. configurable through NVCMDS.DB.  This replaces the configuration available
  119. previously in NetWare for SAA 1.2 through CSPARM.
  120.           5) Allow APPL names in runcmds to 8 characters without padding.
  121.     4. Support added for License diskette.
  122.     5. CPIC and AS/400 file names now conform to the CD-ROM ISO
  123. convention.
  124.     6. Two additional NetView alerts can now be generated:
  125.         - File server error limit reached: Server configuration
  126.         - Failure Alert: THRESHOLD REACHED
