NetWare/IP Server Administration Help 1 of 2
This menu displays a list of options
associated with configuring and starting a
NetWare/IP server. DSS and DNS servers must
be configured and running before you can start
the NetWare/IP server. This menu contains the
following options:
Configure DNS Client
Set up DNS access on this server. The
server must be set up to access DNS before
it can be configured as a NetWare/IP
server.

Configure NetWare/IP Server
Configure this server as a NetWare/IP
server for a specified NetWare/IP domain.
Use this option to set up or modify the
NetWare/IP configuration information on
the current server.
Start NetWare/IP Server
Launch the NetWare/IP server component on
this server. Make sure DSS and DNS servers
are configured and running before you
launch the NetWare/IP server. p
NetWare/IP Server Configuration Help Help 1 of 4
Use this form to configure this host as a
NetWare/IP server or to modify the NetWare/IP
server configuration. This form contains the
following fields:
NetWare/IP Domain
The name of the NetWare/IP domain to which
this server belongs. All NetWare/IP servers
and clients using the same primary DSS server
must belong to the same NetWare/IP domain.
NetWare/IP domain names follow the same
naming conventions as DNS domain names.

Preferred DSSes
Pressing <Enter> in this field displays the
Preferred DSSes form. You can use the
Preferred DSSes form to view, add, or modify
the preferred DSS server listing for this
NetWare/IP server.
Initial DSS Contact Retries
The number of times this NetWare/IP server
will retransmit an unacknowledged query to a
given DSS server at startup. The default is 1
in a range of 0 to 50.

Preferred DSS Help Help 1 of 1
Use this form to specify the hostname, IP
address, or network IP address of up to five
DSS servers that are closest to this server.
The NetWare/IP server will attempt to register
with the DSS servers on this listing before
querying a DNS name server for a listing of
available DSS servers. This parameter is
optional.
Primary DSS Configuration Help Help 1 of 3
Use this form to set up a NetWare server as a
primary DSS and configure the global
parameters for a specified NetWare/IP domain.
You can also use this form to modify the
primary DSS configuration.
A single primary DSS must be configured per NetWare/IP domain for NetWare/IP to function. Once configured, the primary DSS handles
SAP/RIP requests and database replication
automatically. It is recommended that a server
that has relatively low utilization be
designated primary DSS.
