INTRODUCTION
=================================================================
The GroupWise Integration Module adds GroupWise administration
capabilities to the Windows NetWare administration program
(NWAdmin). For example, when you create a user in NetWare
Administrator, you can set up the user with a GroupWise account
at the same time. You can also assign GroupWise mailboxes to
existing NetWare users, all from within NWAdmin.
The capabilities of the GroupWise Integration Module are
summarized in the following list. You can
* Set up Groupwise Integration Module preferences. (This
task is required if you are using a mixed NetWare 3.x and
4.x environment.)
* Create a NetWare user and set up a GroupWise account.
* Set up an existing NetWare user with a GroupWise account.
* Create GroupWise resources.
* Create GroupWise mail distribution lists (public groups).
* Perform maintenance on GroupWise user and post office
databases (ofcheck).
* Delete a GroupWise account.
--------------------------------
SHOULD I USE THE INTEGRATION
MODULE OR THE GROUPWISE
SYNCHRONIZATION NLM?
--------------------------------
Two GroupWise products are currently available to help you
administer a GroupWise system from NDS:
* GroupWise Integration Module
* GroupWise Synchronization NLM
The GroupWise Integration Module lets you individually select
NetWare users from the NDS tree and assign them to a GroupWise
post office. You have the flexibility to individually set
options, such as Visibility, and you can assign users on the same
branch of the NDS tree to different GroupWise post offices. You
can also create GroupWise Resources and Distribution Lists
(GroupWise public groups) from within NWAdmin.
Like the GroupWise Integration Module, the GroupWise
Synchronization NLM maps NetWare users to GroupWise post offices.
However, the GroupWise Synchronization NLM is rules-based and
much more automated than the GroupWise Integration Module. For
example, you might set up an association specifying that any
users added to the ACCT.FINANCE.ADM.US portion of the tree be
added to the GroupWise Payroll post office under the Headquarters
domain (HEADQ.PAYROLL). All of the users added in this way would
have the same options set, such as Visibility=System (or whatever
you specify for the batch). Also, the GroupWise Synchronization
NLM maps only user fields to GroupWise and does not provide the
ability to create GroupWise resources or distribution lists from
within NWAdmin.
If you need more flexibility in assigning post offices than a
rules-based automated program will allow, then you should use the
GroupWise Integration Module. In this case, continue with the
next section in this manual, Installing the GroupWise Integration
Module. Or, if you would prefer a more automated approach, you
should use the GroupWise Synchronization NLM. In this case,
download the GroupWise Synchronization NLM from NetWire and refer
to the zipped documentation for that product.
=================================================================
REQUIREMENTS
=================================================================
The GroupWise Integration Module works only with the Windows
version of the NetWare 4.1 Administration program (NWAdmin). The
system requirements for the module are the same as those for
NWAdmin.
--------------------------------
NDS OBJECT AND PROPERTY RIGHTS
--------------------------------
You must have read and write privileges on the GroupWise ID
property to be able set up an NDS user with a GroupWise account.
Also, to create GroupWise objects, such as a Resource or
GroupWise Distribution List, you must have browse, create and
write privileges in the organization or organizational unit that
will contain the object.
--------------------------------
GROUPWISE SERVERS
--------------------------------
Before the GroupWise Integration Module or Synchronization NLM
were available, all GroupWise administrative tasks had to be done
from the GroupWise Admin program (AD.EXE). In a single-domain,
single-post office system, the GroupWise servers were optional
because the GroupWise Admin program could propagate information
from a single-domain database to a single post office. GroupWise
servers have always been required in a multiple-domain or
multiple-post office system.
GroupWise servers are required when you use the GroupWise
Integration Module, even in a single-domain, single-post office
system. Because AD.EXE does not directly handle the information
that originates from the GroupWise Integration Module, the
GroupWise servers must be running so that the information can be
propagated throughout the GroupWise system.
For information about how to obtain the GroupWise Server Pack,
contact Novell at (800) 861-2507.
=================================================================
INSTALLING THE GROUPWISE INTEGRATION MODULE
=================================================================
To install the GroupWise Integration Module,
1 Start Windows, then open Program Manager (if it is not
already open).
2 Insert the disk labeled GroupWise Integration Module 1
into the drive of the workstation where you run
NWAdmin.
3 Choose File menu, then choose Run.
4 At the command line, enter a:setup (assuming your drive
is A) to display the GroupWise Integration Module Setup
dialog box.
5 Choose from the options explained below:
** Modify NDS Schema **
NDS uses a database to store information about NetWare
objects. Before information about GroupWise users can
be added to NDS, the schema (or database template) must
be modified to accommodate this new information. First-
time installations MUST select this option.
IMPORTANT: This option can only be performed by an
Admin equivalent from the master (root) NDS partition.
If your NDS schema does not need adjustment, this
option will be dimmed, and the text will read "NDS
Already Modified."
Refer to Appendix B: Modifications to the NDS Schema
for more information about how the schema is modified
when you choose this option.
** Install Files **
Check this option if you want to install the GroupWise
Integration Module. The files are normally installed to
the NetWare server's PUBLIC directory.
** Configure Workstation **
Select this option to create and configure the
NWADMIN.INI file, which is required to access the
GroupWise Integration Module while running NWAdmin.
This option must be run at each workstation that will
run NWAdmin with the GroupWise Integration Module.
6 Choose Start, then follow the prompts. You may also
continue reading any of the following sections that
apply to you (depending on which options you selected
in the opening dialog box).
--------------------------------
MODIFYING THE NDS SCHEMA
--------------------------------
If you selected Modify NDS Schema, and if the schema needs to be
modified to accommodate the GroupWise Integration Module, the NDS
Adjustments for GroupWise dialog box appears.
1 Choose Make Adjustments, then follow the prompts.
--------------------------------
INSTALLING THE FILES
--------------------------------
If you selected the Install Files option in the opening screen,
the Install Files dialog box appears:
1 Enter a destination directory, then choose Start.
If you enter a destination directory that is different from the
directory where NWAdmin runs, a Warning dialog box appears with
the following text:
The NWADMIN.EXE program was not found in the specified
directory. It is recommended that this GroupWise module be
installed to the same directory as NWADMIN.EXE
If you continue this installation, you will need to add this
directory to the PATH statement in the AUTOEXEC.BAT.
If you get this prompt, be sure to modify your path variable in
the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to include the directory where you
installed the GroupWise Integration Module.
--------------------------------
CONFIGURING THE WORKSTATION
--------------------------------
If you selected the Configure Workstation option in the opening
dialog box, the Configure Workstation dialog box appears:
1 Choose GroupWise Domain Directory, then enter the path
to your GroupWise domain.
The primary domain is the preferred domain to point to, but
any secondary domain will work.
2 Choose Module Directory, then enter the path you
specified when installing the GroupWise Integration
Module. If you installed the module, the default path
will be where the program was installed. Otherwise, the
field is blank.
3 Choose Start.
=================================================================
SETTING GROUPWISE INTEGRATION MODULE PREFERENCES
=================================================================
GroupWise preferences allow you to do the following:
* Set and/or confirm the path to your domain.
* Set options for how the GroupWise Integration Module
handles the Network ID field for the GroupWise user
record. This is important in mixed Netware 3.1 and 4.1
environments.
* Set options to filter the GroupWise fields that will
display in the various dialog boxes of NWAdmin.
* Set Advanced Options to configure how user information
(such as Given Name) is synchronized between NDS and
GroupWise on a field-by-field basis.
To set GroupWise preferences,
1 Choose Tools, then choose GroupWise Options.
2 Choose Preferences to display the GroupWise preferences
dialog box.
3 Fill out the fields and choose the options as explained
below:
** User Fields to Display **
Choose the GroupWise user fields you want to display in
the various dialog boxes of NWAdmin.
** Use for NetID **
If you have a pure NetWare 4.x environment and if
Bindery Emulation is Off, choose Full Distinguished
Name. This will cause the GroupWise Integration Module
to write a fully distinguished name, such as
brian.adm.hr to the Network ID field of the GroupWise
user record.
OR
If you have a mixed NetWare 3.x and 4.x environment,
choose Common Name. This will cause the GroupWise
Integration Module to write the bindery equivalent of
the common name, such as BRIAN, to the Network ID field
of the GroupWise user record. This option requires that
Bindery Emulation be On. If you do not choose the
Common Name option, users whose post offices reside on
3.x servers will get a "User Not Found" error when
trying to access their mail. To remedy this, the 3.x
users would have to start GroupWise with the /la-
<NETID> option.
** Group Fields To Display **
Choose the GroupWise group fields you want to display
in the various dialog boxes of NWAdmin.
** Resource Fields To Display **
Choose the GroupWise resource fields you want to
display in the various dialog boxes of NWAdmin.
4 Choose Advanced Options, then fill out the fields and
choose the options as explained below:
** Synchronization Policy (NDS to GroupWise) **
The selected attributes that you enter in the NDS user
record (such as Given Name) are synchronized to
GroupWise. The information coming from NDS overwrites
any value that may already exist in the GroupWise
record.
If you want to save information you already entered in
the GroupWise record, but you want to administer your
system from NDS, you should select attributes in the
Initial Synchronization Policy Override.
** Initial Synchronization Polocy Override (GroupWise
to NDS) **
The attribute that you enter in the GroupWise user
record is synchronized to NDS (one time only when you
make the association) if an NDS value does not already
exist. GroupWise will not overwrite NDS values.
If you want to save information you already entered in
the GroupWise record, but you want to administer your
system from NDS, you should select attributes in the
Initial Synchronization Policy Override. For example,
if you select Given Name in both the Synchronization
Policy and in the Initial Synchronization Policy
Override, the following happens: The Given Name is
first synchronized from GroupWise to NDS if an NDS
value does not already exist, and then whenever you
make a change in NDS, the new Given Name is
synchronized back to GroupWise.
5 Choose OK to save the Advanced Options.
6 Choose OK to save Options.
=================================================================
CREATING A NETWARE USER AND SETTING UP A GROUPWISE ACCOUNT
=================================================================
To create a NetWare user and set up that user with a GroupWise
account,
1 Start NWAdmin to display the NDS tree.
2 Highlight the organization or organizational unit in
the tree that will contain the user you are creating.
IMPORTANT: If you selected the Full Distinguished Name
option in Preferences (under GroupWise Options in the
Tools menu), the GroupWise Integration Module takes
information about the user's context in the tree and
puts it in the GroupWise Network ID field. If you later
change the user's context, the GroupWise Network ID
field will not be updated unless you (1) double-click
the user in the tree (while in the new context), (2)
make a minor change in any of the pages, such as adding
a space and then deleting the space in the login script
so that the OK button is available, and then (3) choose
OK.
3 Choose Object from the pulldown menu, then choose
Create to display the New Object dialog box.
4 Choose User, then choose OK.
The Create User dialog box appears.
5 Choose Login Name, then enter a network name for your
user, such as PeteW.
6 Choose Last Name, then enter the user's last name.
Later, when you enable the GroupWise account, the last
name will automatically transfer into the GroupWise
system.
7 Choose one (or none) of the following options. For
information on other options and fields in the Create
User dialog box, see your Novell NetWare 4.1
Administration Guide.
** Define Additional Properties **
Additional properties are required for the user to be
set up in GroupWise. If you select this option, you can
define additional properties immediately after choosing
Create. If you don't select this option, you must
define additional properties after the object is
created by double-clicking the object in the tree.
** Create Another User **
By choosing this option, you can create users
sequentially. However, later you will have to
individually double-click each user in the tree to
define additional properties and set up the GroupWise
account.
8 Choose Create.
What happens next depends on which options you selected in the
Create User dialog box. Refer to the table below for more
information.

=================================================================
SETTING UP AN EXISTING NETWARE USER WITH A GROUPWISE ACCOUNT
=================================================================
To set up a newly created or existing NetWare user with a
GroupWise account,
1 If you are starting from the NDS tree, double-click the
user in the tree for whom you are setting up a
GroupWise account to display the User: Name dialog box
under the Identification page.
OR
If you selected the Define Additional Properties option
when creating the user and the User: [name] dialog
(under the user's Idendification page) is already
displayed, continue with the next step.
2 Fill out the fields shown in the list below if you want
the information to carry over into GroupWise Admin. For
information about other fields in the Identification
page, see your Novell NetWare 4.1 Administration Guide.
Also, for information about how the fields translate
into GroupWise Admin, see Appendix A: Field Links.
IMPORTANT: GroupWise can store only one value for each
field. If you enter multiple values in NDS, only one
will transfer to GroupWise.
Given Name
Title

Telephone
Fax Number
3 Use the scroll bar on the far right side of the dialog
box to display the GroupWise page at the bottom of the
list.
IMPORTANT: The button for the GroupWise page does not
display unless you use the scroll bar to drag to the
bottom of the list.
4 Click the GroupWise page to set up the user with a
GroupWise account.
If the Login Name you entered when creating the user matches an
existing User ID in the GroupWise system, the following prompt
appears:
Does NDS object [fully qualified name] correspond to
GroupWise object [Domain.PO.UserID]?
If you get this prompt, make a choice based on the information
provided below:
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CHOOSE YES?
If you choose Yes to accept the association, NetWare
Administrator assumes that the specified NDS user already
has a GroupWise user mailbox. If the Domain.PO for the user
is not the one you want, and if you are planning to move the
user to a different post office, you should choose Yes to
accept the association now and then later move the user by
selecting a different domain.po combination from the
GroupWise page; otherwise, two users with the same GroupWise
user ID will exist in GroupWise under different post
offices.
After you choose Yes, the GroupWise page appears. Skip to
FILLING OUT THE GROUPWISE PAGE for more information.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CHOOSE NO?
If you choose No and create your own association, you may
end up with two users with the same GroupWise user ID under
different post offices. This is allowed in GroupWise, but it
may be confusing to users who are trying to distinguish
between the two in an address list. To prevent this, you may
want to provide a different Object Name when creating your
own association.
After you choose No, the GroupWise page appears. For more
information, continue with the next section, FILLING OUT THE
GROUPWISE PAGE.
--------------------------------
FILLING OUT THE GROUPWISE PAGE
--------------------------------
1 From the GroupWise dialog box, fill out the fields as
explained below to set up the NetWare user with a
GroupWise account.
** Domain.PO **
Choose a domain/post office combination from the list.
(If the list is not displaying, click the arrow icon on
the right side of the Domain.PO field.) For example,
PeteW will be assigned to Headquarters.Advertising.
** Object Name **
The Object Name will be the User ID, or mail ID, for
the user in the GroupWise system. The default is the
Novell Common Name.
** Visibility **
Choose between System, Domain, Post Office, or None.
For an explanation of visibility, see Visibility in
Chapter 4: Reference in the GroupWise Administration
Guide.
** User Defined 1-10 **
Enter any information you want in the user-defined
fields. The labels for the fields must be edited from
within GroupWise Administration. For example, you could
rename User-Defined 1 to Social Security Number. Social
Security Number would then appear in the NWAdmin and
the GroupWise Admin programs. For instructions about
labeling the user-definable fields, see Additional
Fields: Labeling in Chapter 4: Reference in the
GroupWise Administration Guide.
2 Choose OK to save the information in the GroupWise page
and any other pages where you may have added
information (such as in the Identification page).
The user would then appear in the Address Book of the GroupWise
Clients and in the Users window of GroupWise Admin.
=================================================================
CREATING GROUPWISE RESOURCES
=================================================================

=================================================================
CREATING GROUPWISE MAIL DISTRIBUTION LISTS (PUBLIC GROUPS)
=================================================================
In GroupWise, a public group is a defined set of users,
resources, and other GroupWise objects. After the GroupWise
administrator creates and names the public group, users can send
messages to all objects within the group by addressing a message
to the group.
IMPORTANT: A public group (GroupWise term) and GroupWise
Distribution List (NWAdmin term) are the same thing.
To create a GroupWise distribution list (public group),
1 Highlight the organization or organizational unit in
the NDS tree that will contain the GroupWise
Distribution List you are creating.
2 Choose Object from the pulldown menu, then choose
Create to display the New Object dialog box.

a* in the Name Filter field and then pressing Tab displays only
those objects in the current context that start with A.
Also, notice the Current Context field. In this example, the
current context is Documentation.adm. If the objects listed in
the tree are not the ones you want to add to the distribution
list, you can change the context. However, if you want to add a
few objects from the current context and then select objects to
add from another context, you must choose OK and then come back
into the Select Object dialog before going into the new context.
IMPORTANT: If you select objects from the current context and
then try to change the context to add more objects before
choosing OK, your selections in the current context will be lost.
4 Select one or more objects from the tree (shift-click
allows you to select multiple items), then choose OK to

=================================================================
PERFORMING MAINTENANCE ON GROUPWISE DATABASES (OFCHECK)
=================================================================
The Check GroupWise database utility (ofcheck) is available in
the Tools menu of NWAdmin. Occasionally, you may want to use
Check GroupWise to check the user and message databases and fix
any problems or errors in the databases. Or, if a user
experiences problems associated with his or her user database or
the message databases, you will want to use Check GroupWise.
To run the utility,
1 Highlight the user(s) whose mailboxes you want to
check.
If you want to check a post office database, you can select
that option once inside the Check GroupWise Files dialog
box.
2 Choose Tools, then choose GroupWise Options.
3 Choose Check Files to display the Check GroupWise Files
dialog box.
4 Choose the options as explained in Database: Checking
and Fixing in Chapter 4: Reference of the GroupWise
Administration Guide.
You cannot use an options file that was created in the DOS
program. Any options files you want to use need to be
created and saved with the Windows version of Check
GroupWise.
5 Choose Run. An administrative task message will be sent
to the appropriate GroupWise servers requesting that
the action be performed.
=================================================================
DELETING A GROUPWISE ACCOUNT
=================================================================
To delete the GroupWise account for an NDS user without deleting
the user from the NDS tree,
1 Select the NDS/GroupWise user or users in the tree. You
can select multiple users by pressing the Shift key
while clicking the mouse.
2 Choose Tools, then choose GroupWise Options.
3 Choose Delete Account to display the Delete from
GroupWise dialog box.
Notice that the users you selected from the tree appear in
the GroupWise Users list of the Delete from GroupWise dialog
box.
4 Individually select the users whose GroupWise account
you want to delete.
OR
Choose Select All to select all the users in the delete
list.
OR
Choose Deselect All to select none of the users in the
delete list.
5 Choose from the actions explained below:
** Expire GroupWise Users and Leave Mailboxes **
The users are expired within GroupWise but are not
deleted. The users are not able to log in to the post
office, but the users' records are not deleted from
GroupWise. This leaves you the option of later changing
or eliminating the expire date in the user records
(using GroupWise Admin) to make the users active again.
Expired records are not deleted automatically; you must
use GroupWise Admin to delete the records or choose the
Delete GroupWise Users and Mailboxes option explained
below. For more information about deleting expired
records, see User Records: Purging Expired in Chapter
4: Reference of the GroupWise Administration Guide.
** Delete GroupWise Users and Mailboxes **
The users' GroupWise accounts are deleted, and the
GroupWise mailboxes are also deleted, including any
unread messages.
** Remove NDS Association **
This option removes the values from the post office and
user ID fields on the user's GroupWise page. The
account still exists in GroupWise, but information that
changes in NDS is not pushed out to GroupWise.
6 Choose OK to perform the action you specified on the
record or records you selected.
