  16. This file contains several sets of Novell MENU files; MENU v1.02a, MENU
  17. v1.23, and MENUPARZ v1.22.  The combination of MENU sets provides all the
  18. functions supported by Novell MENU.

  45. This README file accompanies current versions of MENU for NetWare v2.x and
  46. v3.x.

  49. Two sets of Novell MENU files are provided:  MENU v1.02a and a hybrid set
  50. of MENU files including MENU v1.23 and MENUPARZ v1.22 (this set includes
  51. the memory release fix which was previously distributed in MENU.EXE and
  52. discussed in Technical Bulletin 271).  The combination of both sets should
  53. provide you with all functions supported by Novell MENU.  Each MENU set
  54. provides a function that the other does not.  A description of the two
  55. functions which are "mutually exclusive" is provided below.

  57. ISSUE 1: (Calling Menu from a batch file)
  58.  
  59. Some versions of Novell's Menu program cannot be called from a batch file.
  60. This includes the common practice of EXITING the Login Script to a batch
  61. file which in turn executes MENU.EXE.
  62.  
  63. A symptom of this anomaly is manifested in the execution of a Menu option
  64. when MENU is called from a batch file.  The command following the call to
  65. MENU in the batch file is executed instead of the Menu option selected.  In
  66. this case, MENU is effectively exited and control is returned to the batch
  67. file.

  69. SOLUTION: Use MENU v1.02a
  70.  
  71. ISSUE 2: (Creating Search Mappings within Menu)
  72.  
  73. Search mappings created from within Menu, (or by a batch file called from
  74. within Menu) appear to be created, but are not valid.  The Menu user is in
  75. a DOS Child Process when trying to create the Search Mappings.  The
  76. mappings are not available for the current process, but are seen in the
  77. parent environment when the child process is removed.

  79. SOLUTION: Use the Hybrid set of MENU files (v1.22 and v1.23)
