  49.  This document is formatted as a reference document.  Rather than
  50. trying to read this entire document, use the Table of Contents to
  51. determine which sections to read in detail.
  52.  
  53.  The patch updates the existing FTP.EXE, FTPD.EXE and
  54. DIRECTOR.EXE files.  The update is performed by creating a
  55. temporary area to contain the patch files, transferring the patch
  56. files to the temporary area and executing a batch file.
  57.  
  58.  The update is designed to use the standard paths of
  59. \LANWP\OS2BIN for FTP.EXE and FTPD.EXE and \LANWP\BIN40 for
  60. DIRECTOR.EXE.  If you have changed the path for these files,
  61. please make corresponding changes to the paths in OS2P1.CMD.
  62.  
  63.  Backup copies of the updated files will be created in a
  64. temporary sub-directory.  However, we suggest you create a backup
  65. of the LAN WorkPlace software prior to executing the update.

  67.  All Operations may be performed from an OS/2 Window or OS/2 Full
  68. Screen.

  73.  LO30A2.EXE supersedes OS2P1.EXE (No changes to file contents
  74. have been made, except changes to the file naming and TID
  75. format).

  88.  2 - PROBLEMS CORRECTED BY THIS FIX RELEASE
  89.  
  90.  2.1 - (FTP.EXE) FTP.EXE had a "Divide by zero" condition that
  91. would cause FTP to halt when using MGET, MPUT, and MDELETE. The
  92. error is corrected by this patch.
  93.  
  94.  2.2 - (FTPD.EXE) FTPD.EXE had a pointer that would cause a lost
  95. connection when attempting to rename a file on the system running
  96. the FTP Daemon.  The error is corrected by this patch.

  98.  2.3 - (DIRECTOR.EXE) DIRECTOR.EXE did not work in version 3.0 of
  99. LAN WorkPlace for DOS. This patch contains a fully functional
  100. Script Director.

  103.  3 - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  105.  3.1 -  Create a temporary directory for the patch file. The
  106. directory \TEMP is used for all examples.

  110.  3.2 -  After the file is transferred to the temporary directory,
  111. execute the file LO30A2.EXE:
  112.  
  113.  CD \TEMP
  114.  LO30A2

  116.  The patch file will self extract and the contain the files
  117. listed above.

  119.  3.3 -  After the patch has self-extracted, execute the following
  120. command to start the patch process:
  121.  
  122.  OS2P1.CMD
  123.  
  124.  The patch will run for a few seconds and will print messages
  125. indicating the files patched and the completion of the patch
  126. process.

  132.  4 - VERIFYING THE UPDATE
  133.  
  134.  4.1 -  To verify that the update completed properly, list the
  135. files affected, and check against the file listing above for
  136. correctness.
  137.  
  138.  4.2 -  The files may also be checked with the VRSNID program.

  146.  NOTE:  The version IDs must match the versions listed above in
  147. section 1.3.

  149.  Please note that DIRECTOR.EXE has been changed to an early
  150. version.  This is correct for this file.

  154.  5 - BACKUP FILES
  155.  
  156.  Original files which were updated by this patch are backed up in
  157. the sub-directory BACKUP within the temporary directory.
  158. (\TEMP\BACKUP).
  159.  
  160.  Batch files to restore the updated files to their original state
  161. are also in the BACKUP directory. The names for the batch files
  162. are UNPATCH.BAK for DIRECTOR.EXE, UNPATAxx.BAK for FTPD.EXE, and
  163. UNPATAxx.BAK for FTP.EXE, where xx is a two digit numeric number.

  165.  The extension, .BAK will need to be changed to .CMD prior to
  166. execution of the batch files.
