  16. 1Q: If I can use NetWare for SAA to connect to an AS/400 why can't I use it to connect to a System/36 or System/38?

  18. 1A: NetWare for SAA 2.0 supports LU Type 6.2, which is a General Data Stream supporting a program-to-program, peer-to-peer relationship.  System/3x requires either:
  19. - LU Type 7 which is a 5250 Data Stream
  20. or 
  21. - LU Type 4  which is a SNA Character String.  
  22. These have a program-to-device, master/slave relationship with the host.

  27. 2A: No.  NetWare for SAA does not require a dedicated gateway box.  It  is a communications server that runs on any NetWare 4.10 or NetWare 3.1 server.

  32. 3A: No.  NetWare for SAA supports any NetWare supported LAN topology including Ethernet,Token Ring, ARCnet, and FDDI.

  37. 4A: No.  NetWare for SAA provides functionality similar to a 3174.  It can be used in place of your controller.  You can connect directly to your front end processor or your mainframe via Ethernet, Token Ring, SDLC, X.25, FDDI, or channel attach solutions.
