  17. This patch should only be applied when IBM models 35 and 40 are used as
  18. non-dedicated routers.  The patch solves the problem of slow keyboard
  19. response with NetWare 2.2 and v3.11.

  43.               README FILE FOR IBMRT.EXE
  44. This README file accompanies IBMRT.EXE which is for the ROUTER software
  45. that ships with NetWare v2.2 and v3.11.
  46.  
  47. This patch should only be applied when IBM models 35 and 40 are used as
  48. non-dedicated routers.  This patch solves the problem of slow keyboard
  49. response.

  52. Note:  Applying this patch using the floppy disk method is not recommended 
  53. due to the nature of the patch.  Please use the following instructions for
  54. the hard disk method.

  57. To apply patch using the hard disk method:
  58.  
  59. 1.   Create a TEMP directory and copy the contents of IBMRT.EXE to the
  60. directory.  Also from the ROUTEGEN diskette copy NPROUTER.OBJ to the TEMP
  61. directory.  Perform the following steps from the TEMP directory.
  62.  
  63. 2.   Rename the NPROUTER.OBJ TO NPRTWORK.OBJ
  64.           (REN NPROUTER.OBJ NPRTWORK.OBJ)
  65.  
  66. 3.   Apply the first stage of the patch.
  67.           ZAPOBJ NPRTWORK.OBJ NPROUTER.OBJ PS2PATR.FIX
  68.  
  69. 4.   Use RENFLAGR.EXE to apply the second stage of the patch.
  70.           RENFLAGR NPROUTER.OBJ

  73. Now the patch is applied to the NPROUTER.OBJ.  The following instructions
  74. are for creating ROUTER.EXE using the newly patched NPROUTER.OBJ.

  77. 5.   In the TEMP  directory create a ROUTEGEN subdirectory and copy the
  78. contents of the ROUTEGEN floppy to the directory.  Also copy the patched
  79. NPROUTER.OBJ to the ROUTEGEN directory.

  81. 6.   Create a PATCHES directory at the same level as the ROUTEGEN
  82. directory.

  84. 7.   Copy PS2PAT.OBJ and ROUTEGEN.LNK to the PATCHES subdirectory.

  86. 8.   The ROUTEGEN.EXE that came with the patch should already be in the
  87. TEMP  directory, if not, copy the ROUTEGEN.EXE that came with IBMRT.ZIP to
  88. the TEMP directory.

  91.      The directory structure should look like the following:

  93.      TEMP---ROUTEGEN.EXE  (this is the EXE that came with
  94.      IBMRT.ZIP)
  95.          ROUTEGEN       (sub)--contents of routegen diskette
  96.                                patched NPROUTER.OBJ
  97.          PATCHES        (sub)--ps2pat.obj
  98.                                routegen.lnk
  99.          LAN_DRV_.001   (sub)--contents of lan_drv_001 diskette

  101. The lan_drv_.001 would be replaced with the appropriate lan_drv_.xxx
  102. directory if you are using third party lan drivers.

  105. Note:  If the ROUTEGEN.LNK file is left in the temp directory the linking
  106. process will fail.  After copying ROUTEGEN.LNK to the PATCHES directory
  107. delete it from the TEMP directory.  This should be done before executing
  108. ROUTEGEN.

  111. 9.   Using the new ROUTEGEN.EXE included with IBMRT.ZIP create a new
  112. router.exe.  In the TEMP directory type ROUTEGEN and press return.  Now
  113. follow the prompts to create the appropriate router for your system.  For
  114. instructions go to page 59 of the "Installing and Maintaining the Network"
  115. manual.

  117. 10.  Copy the ROUTER.EXE from the ROUTEGEN directory to a floppy diskette
  118. and on the model 35 or 40 to be used as the router boot to DOS and execute
  119. the router.
