  17. If HostPrint 1.1 is installed in a NetWare 4.1 server, HPT009.EXE is the
  18. current Maintenance Patch.  If HostPrint is in a NetWare 4.01 server or a
  19. NetWare 3.1x server, download the HPT006 series instead.

  29. SYMPTOM
  30.  
  31. - CSCON was unable to support a selection list of more than 50 print jobs,
  32. when HostPrint is running on NetWare 4.0x.
  33.  
  34. - HPCONSOL crashed when more than 20 print jobs were defined.
  35.  
  36. - HPCONSOL would fail in large HostPrint environments due to size of buffer
  37. allocated to HPCONSOL.
  38.  
  39. - HPOBJECT failed when the NetWare server had the Accounting option installed
  40. and the Account Balance activated.
  41.  
  42. - An extra Form Feed and a PostScript error was issued at the end of a
  43. HostPrint print job.
  44.  
  45. - The server could ABEND in large HostPrint environments due to the way Host
  46. Print was handling thread switching.
  47.  
  48. - When Host Print 1.1 was installed, SAACOPY was overwritten with an older
  49. version that doesn't support the option to backup or restore profiles to or
  50. from DOS or Netware partitions.

  98. Installation Instructions:

  100. HPT009 requires:
  101. - That HostPrint has been installed in a NetWare 4.1 server.  (If it is on a
  102. 4.0x or 3.1x server, download HPT006.EXE instead.)
  103. - NetWare for SAA 1.3.42.  
  104. ---- *IF* your NetWare for SAA is not, at least, V1.3.0, you must purchase an
  105. upgrade.
  106. ----  *IF* you have a version of NetWare 1.3 below v1.3.42 (1.3B), you must
  107. upgrade (see PTF410.EXE). 
  108. - HostPrint 1.1
  109.  
  110. NOTE: It is vital that you read all 16 steps below!
  111.  
  112. I. Create a directory on the NetWare 4 server called PATCH.
  113.  
  114. II. Create 1 subdirectory under it:
  115. - DISK1
  116.  
  117. III. Put HPT009.EXE into the DISK1 subdirectory.
  118.  
  119. IV. Type  HPT009  to unzip HPT009.EXE.
  120.  
  121. V. *IF* you will be managing HostPrint with NetWare for SAA Services Manager
  122. (SSM):
  123. - Create a DISK2 subdirectory.
  124. - Put HPT004.EXE into it.
  125. - Unzip HPT004   HPT004  <enter>
  126. - Install HPT004.EXE on the workstation as follows:
  127. --- A. Start Windows   WIN   <enter>
  128. --- B. Select FILE/RUN under Program Manager.
  129. --- C. RUN PATCH\DISK2\SETUP.EXE
  130. --- D. From "NetWare for SAA Service Manager Setup", select the "Add Services"
  131. option.
  132. --- E. You will be notified when installation is complete.
  133.  
  134. VI. The server must be active but COMMEXEC.NLM must not be running.
  135. -- A. UNLOAD HOSTPRT (If already loaded).
  136. -- B. CSDOWN.
  137. ---C. UNLOAD COMMEXEC  (to make sure it is unloaded).
  138. -- C. LOAD INSTALL.
  139. -- D. Select "Install a product not listed".
  140. -- E. Press <F3> to specify a different path
  141. -- F. Enter the correct path to the DISK1 directory, the install program will
  142. install the appropriate files from the DISK1 directory as applicable.
  143.  
  144. For example:
  145. SYS:\PATCH\DISK1
  146.  
  147. INSTALL will inform you when installation of the PTF series is complete.
  148.  
  149. VII. Verify installation of HPT009:
  150. - A. Load INSTALL.
  151. - B. Select "View/Configure/Remove installed products" option.
  152. - C. Select the "Currently Installed Products" option.
  153. - D. HostPrint should be at Version 1.10.10.
  154.  
  155. VIII. Login to the NetWare HostPrint server as ADMIN.
  156.  
  157. IX. Insure you are in the same Bindery Context as the file server where
  158. HostPrint is installed, with a search drive mapping to SYS:PUBLIC.  
  159.  
  160. X. Run HPDEF.  (see page 2-2 of the Administration Guide for complete
  161. information)
  162.  
  163. XI. Run PRINTDEF: Refer to the NetWare HostPrint Administration Guide,
  164. starting on PAGE 2-18, STEP NO.4 and follow the program prompts.
  165.  
  166. The PRINTDEF database file PRINTDEF.DAT will be created/updated in
  167. the SYS:\PUBLIC subdirectory when PRINTDEF "Import Print Devices" is
  168. executed.
  169.  
  170. XII. Run PRINTCON: Refer to the NetWare HostPrint Administration Guide,
  171. starting on PAGE 2-22 and follow the program prompts.
  172.  
  173. XIII. Login as SUPERVISOR /b, and run PRINTCON on any 4.x servers you will be
  174. sending HostPrint, print jobs to.  The PRINTCON database file PRINTJOB.DAT
  175. will be created/updated in the SYS:\PUBLIC subdirectory when PRINTCON is
  176. executed.

  178. XIV. Login as SUPERVISOR, and run PRINTCON on any 3.x servers you will be
  179. sending HostPrint, print jobs to.  The PRINTCON database file PRINTJOB.DAT
  180. will be created/updated in the SYS:\PUBLIC subdirectory when PRINTCON is
  181. executed.

  183. NOTE: Any print jobs which were configured with/on a 3.1x server with
  184. PRINTCON, can no longer be used.

  187. Patch History:

  189. HPT009 supersedes the HPT001-HPT005 series (relative to a NetWare 4.1
  190. installation only.
  191.  
  192. Solution Specifics:
  193.  
  194. After HPT009 is applied:
  195. 1. CSCON will now support a selection list of more than 50 print jobs.
  196.  
  197. 2. HPCONSOL will now support more than 20 defined print jobs.
  198.  
  199. 3. HPCONSOL has increased buffer capacity to support the maximum field lengths
  200. in server, print server, print queue, and print job names.
  201.  
  202. 4. HPOBJECT will now support NetWare servers with Accounting installed and the
  203. Account Balance assigned.
  204.  
  205. 5. PostScript HostPrint jobs will now print without an extra form feed at the
  206. end of the print job and without a PostScript error report to the printer.
  207.  
  208. 6. The new HOSTPRT.NLM corrects the way in which Host Print handles thread
  209. switching making it stable in large environments.
  210.  
  211. 8. The correct version of SAACOPY will now be copied to the
  212. SYS:SYSTEM\NWSAA\SAACOPY
  213. subdirectory restoring functionality of the updated SAACOPY.
