Installation Instructions:
NOTE: Read the GAM README.TXT file, found in the root directory
of the diskette labeled GAMSYS, before attempting to install the
product.
1. Create a temporary directory on the local workstation or
file server.
(Ex: md C:\GAMTEMP)
2. Copy the file GAM100.EXE, which was downloaded from
NetWire, to the
temporary directory.
3. Execute the file GAM100.EXE. This will extract files to
the temporary
directory:
a. GAMSYS.EXE
b. GAMADM.EXE
c. GAMBCC.EXE
d. GAMDOC1.EXE
e. GAMDOC2.EXE
Each of these files is a self-extracting archive of the
corresponding
Global MHS Access Module installation disk.
4. You will need to obtain 5 3.5" 1.4MB pre-formatted
diskettes and create
a printed label for each diskette using the following
examples.
a. GAMSYS
Disk 1 of 3
b. GAMADM
Disk 2 of 3
c. GAMBCC
Disk 3 of 3
d. GAMDOC1
Disk 1 of 2
e. GAMDOC2
Disk 2 of 2
5. Create a Volume label for each diskette using the name of
the diskette.
(Ex: Label A: GAMSYS)
6. Execute each self-extracting archive using the '-d' option
and redirect
the output to the 3.5" floppy drive.
(Ex: GAMSYS.EXE -d A:)
Do this for each of the 5 .EXE files. Once this is
completed, you will
have a complete set of the Global MHS Access Module
installation disks.
7. To install the 'Global MHS Access Module', use the NetWare
Installation
utility from the server console.
The Administration client software is installed and run on the
client
workstation that logs into the 4.1 server on which the Global
MHS Access
Module is installed.
Using Inet delivery, the Global MHS Access Module transfers
messages from MHS Services to GMHS and vice versa. The Global
MHS
Access Module picks up the message from the gateway file system
and transforms the message headers into the appropriate format.
This makes it possible for the recipient to reply to the
originator
of the message.
The directory synchronization component of the Global MHS Access
Module,
GAMDIRS, allows synchronization between the GMHS and NDS
databases.
Directory synchronization can be configured to synchronize
directories
in one or both directions: GMHS to NDS and/or NDS to GMHS.
The Global MHS Access Module's administration consists of a
client/server
pair. The client software is a NetWare 4.1 NWADMIN Snapin and
the server
software is the MHSADMGR.NLM. This architecture creates a
seamless
integration of the Global MHS Access Module administrative
services with
NWADMIN.
Two documents, "Strategies for Migrating to NetWare MHS
Services" and
"Installing and Configuring the NetWare Global MHS Access Module
for
NetWare MHS Services," provide information on how to plan for
migration
and how to install and configure the product. An extensive
online HELP
facility is also provided from within the product.
--------------------------------------------
NetWare Global MHS Requirements - IMPERATIVE
--------------------------------------------
A working knowledge of both NetWare Global MHS, NetWare MHS
Services,
and NWAdmin is required for installing and configuring the
NetWare
Global MHS Access Module.
The Global MHS Access Module MUST be used in conjunction with a
NetWare
server running Global MHS version 2.0d, that has been upgraded
to 2.02d
using the patch file NGM209.EXE. Versions prior to 2.0d will
NOT work
correctly. To upgrade a GMHS version 2.0b or 2.0c to GMHS
version 2.0d,
retrieve the patch file NGM207.EXE from either NetWire of from
the FTP
server 'FTP.NOVELL.COM'. To upgrade GMHS 2.0d to the latest GMHS
release,
2.0d2, apply the patch file NGM209.EXE which can also be found
on NetWire
and the FTP server. Please refer to the associated README.UPG
file for
information concerning changes which have been implemented in
each patch.
The NetWare server on which the Global MHS Access Module is
running, must be
updated using the latest NetWare 4.1 patches along with the
latest CLIB.NLM.
Also, the latest versions of MHSLIB.NLM, and MHS.NLM must be
installed on the
server. These can be found on NetWire as the patch MHSVR1.EXE.

Installing the Online Documentation
-----------------------------------
Installing the Global MHS Access Module Online Documentation:
o Load INSTALL from the NetWare 4.1 server console
o Select 'Product options'
o Select 'Choose an item or product listed above'
o Select 'Install Online Documentation and Viewers'
o Insert diskette labeled GAMDOC1 into the appropriate floppy
drive
o Press F3 and specify floppy drive (eg. B:\)
o Proceed with the installation
Accessing the Dynatext viewer:
Scenario A:
The Dynatext Viewer is currently installed either on your
workstation or on a server.
If you chose not to install the GAM documentation on the
same server where the NetWare 4.1 documentation set is
installed, proceed with step 1 below.
If you have installed the GAM documentation on the same server
where the NetWare 4.1 documentation set is installed, you
can skip the following steps (1-4).
1. Determine whether you have the file DYNATEXT.INI in your
Windows
directory (C:\WINDOWS), or in the <Drive>:\<PATH>\DTAPPWIN
directory
on your server where the Dynatext Viewer is installed.
2. Using a text editor, open the file DYNATEXT.INI.
3. Search for the line that says "COLLECTION="
4. Insert a line as follows:
COLLECTION=<Drive>:\DOC\$NWLANGUAGE\GAM10=Global MHS Access
Module
(<Drive> is a network drive mapped to the server's volume
that
contains the GAM Dynatext documentation.)
Scenario B:
The Dynatext Viewer software and NetWare 4.1 documentation
reside
on the CDROM.
1. Create a Dynatext program item with the followings
parameters:
Description: Dynatext Doc
Command Line: <Drive>:\DOCVIEW\DTAPPWIN\DTEXTRW.EXE
Working Directory: <Drive>:\DOCVIEW\DTAPPWIN
(where <Drive> is a system drive mapped to your CDROM.)
2. Copy the Dynatext.ini file from the
<Drive>:\DOCVIEW\DTAPPWIN
directory into your Windows directory (C:\WINDOWS).
3. Using a text editor, open the file DYNATEXT.INI.
4. Search for the line that says "COLLECTION="
5. Insert a line as follows:
COLLECTION=<Drive>:\DOC\$NWLANGUAGE\GAM10=Global MHS Access
Module
(<Drive> is a network drive mapped to the server's volume
that
contains the GAM Dynatext documentation.)
1. Create a temporary directory on the local workstation or
file server.
(Ex: md C:\GAMTEMP)
2. Copy the file GAM100.EXE, which was downloaded from
NetWire, to the
temporary directory.
3. Execute the file GAM100.EXE. This will extract files to
the temporary
directory:
a. GAMSYS.EXE
b. GAMADM.EXE
c. GAMBCC.EXE
d. GAMDOC1.EXE
e. GAMDOC2.EXE
Each of these files is a self-extracting archive of the
corresponding
Global MHS Access Module installation disk.
4. You will need to obtain 5 3.5" 1.4MB pre-formatted
diskettes and create
a printed label for each diskette using the following
examples.
a. GAMSYS
Disk 1 of 3
b. GAMADM
Disk 2 of 3
c. GAMBCC
Disk 3 of 3
d. GAMDOC1
Disk 1 of 2
e. GAMDOC2
Disk 2 of 2
5. Create a Volume label for each diskette using the name of
the diskette.
(Ex: Label A: GAMSYS)
6. Execute each self-extracting archive using the '-d' option
and redirect
the output to the 3.5" floppy drive.
(Ex: GAMSYS.EXE -d A:)
Do this for each of the 5 .EXE files. Once this is
completed, you will
have a complete set of the Global MHS Access Module
installation disks.
7. To install the 'Global MHS Access Module', use the NetWare
Installation
utility from the server console.
WARNING: Read the GAM README.TXT file, found in the root
directory of the
diskette labeled GAMSYS, before attempting to install
the product.
