  22.     1.0  CONTENTS
  23.  
  24.              It is intended that the information contained in this 
  25.     document be used in conjunction with the manuals provided by Novell,
  26.     Inc. for NetWare 386.  Information which is specific to the Unisys
  27.     U6000 and PW2 SCSI/VGA combination card is provided.
  28.     
  29.              This documentation applies to the Unisys SCSI Disk Driver, 
  30.     "UNIDRIV.DSK".  This driver is designed to work with: 
  31.  
  32.         o  Unisys U6000/55 system internal SCSI adapter 
  33.         o  Unisys U6000/60 system internal SCSI adapter 
  34.         o  PW2 systems with (PW2-MCC) SCSI/VGA multi-function board 
  35.  
  36.              The following files are supplied with this release to support 
  37.     the hardware noted above:

  44.              Application and utility software supplied by Novell or 
  45.       other vendors which are designed to run in the NetWare environment 
  46.     should be installable and executable when the Unisys SCSI driver
  47.     is in use.

  50.     1.1  HARDWARE LIMITATIONS
  51.  
  52.             The U6000 will support upto 12 MB of memory when used with this
  53.     driver.  More than 12 MB may be installed on this machine.  Any 
  54.     amount above 12 MB will not be used.   
  55.  
  56.             Up to 10 MB of memory can be supported on PW2 500 systems. 
  57.  
  58.             This release of the SCSI disk driver does not support SCSI 
  59.     tape for any of the Unisys systems.
  60.  
  61.             Only one SCSI adapter is supported by this driver.  Up to 7
  62.     disks are supported on the SCSI bus.
  63.  
  64.  
  65.     2.0  NETWARE SETUP STEPS
  66.     
  67.              The procedure used for installation of NetWare 386 is 
  68.     documented in the NetWare 386 Installation Manual.  
  69.  
  70.              For a new installation, make sure the disks are properly
  71.     addressed and connected to the SCSI bus.  Run diagnostics to 
  72.     ensure that all disks are recognized properly.  All drives 
  73.     should be formatted if not formatted previously.  Drive C should 
  74.     have DOS installed on a small (2 MB) partition.  
  75.  
  76.             For systems using the VGA/SCSI Combo card, SSTBIO.SYS should 
  77.     be loaded via the CONFIG.SYS file.  Copy the SSTBIO.SYS from the 
  78.     Supplemental Driver Diskette to the drive C DOS partition and 
  79.     update the CONFIG.SYS file to include the following line:

  81.                 DEVICE=SSTBIO.SYS  
  82.  
  83.             If SSTBIO.SYS is not used, files will not be loadable from the 
  84.     DOS partition and COMMAND.COM will not be accessible when the server   
  85.     exits NetWare to return to DOS.

  87.  
  88.     2.1  CONFIGURING THE CONTROLLER CARD
  89.  
  90.         U6000 systems do not require jumper settings for use with 
  91.     the NetWare 386 driver.  The SCSI adapter does not utilize 
  92.     AT interrupt vectors in the IRQ range.  The following I/O port 
  93.     addresses are used by the SCSI adapter: 0CC0, 0CC4.
  94.  
  95.              The SCSI/VGA adapter provided in the PW2-MCC configurations
  96.     of the PW2-500 systems removes the need for a separate video    
  97.     adapter.  No special hardware setup is required.  The VGA adapter is 
  98.     always the primary video adapter and uses the default VGA I/O address 
  99.     range, it also uses 46E8h and 0102h for reset.
  100.  
  101.         A serial port is included in the VGA/SCSI card.  For NetWare
  102.     installations, this port should be disabled to prevent it from 
  103.     conflicting with other serial ports in the system.
  104.  
  105.              The SCSI portion of the adapter uses a default of IRQ 14,
  106.     DMA channel 3, I/O ports 340-348 and BIOS address of DC000h.  Jumpers 
  107.     should be installed according to the following table:

  115.     2.2  DRIVER INSTALLATION
  116.  
  117.              Initial installation of this driver requires the use of a 
  118.     Supplemental Driver Diskette for NetWare 386 version 3.1.  This 
  119.     diskette contains the driver file executable file named 
  120.     "UNIDRIV.DSK".  This file should be copied to the same directory 
  121.     where the NetWare server.exe file is installed.  
  122.  
  123.              Follow the instructions in the installation manual for 
  124.     NetWare 386.  After starting the server by running "SERVER" from
  125.     the DOS prompt (page 188, section 1) use the procedure for server
  126.     setup.  Next, refer to page 190, section 1a. and enter "LOAD 
  127.     UNIDRIV" to load the driver.  The driver does not display prompts 
  128.     for options such as I/O port addresses and interrupt settings.
  129.     All hardware specific parameters built into the driver itself.   
  130.     A  message  will  be displayed which identifies the Unisys SCSI Disk 
  131.     Driver during its initialization phase. 
  132.  
  133.              All other instructions for the installation process should be
  134.     taken directly from the NetWare 386 Installation Manual.  It 
  135.     supplies detailed information on the installation and setup 
  136.     procedure for the NetWare 386 operating system.  For references to 
  137.     the disk driver file, use the name "UNIDRIV.DSK".  
  138.     
  139.  
  140.     2.3  ERROR MESSAGES
  141.  
  142.          "SCSI Adapter operation failure"
  143.           The adapter hardware is not functioning properly.  
  144.           Contact service personnel for assistance.
  145.  
  146.          "SCSI Driver configuration conflict"
  147.               I/O ports, DMA utilization setup interferes with other
  148.               system resources.  Some other driver is using settings
  149.               required for the Unisys driver.
  150.     
  151.          "SCSI Driver disk interrupt error"
  152.               IRQ setting interferes with other system resources.
  153.               Some other driver is using an interrupt level required 
  154.               by the Unisys driver.
  155.  
  156.          "SCSI Driver initialization error"
  157.           NetWare is unable to initialize the driver.  A system or
  158.            memory problem may be indicated.  NetWare files may be
  159.                   corrupted.
