  9. ABSTRACT:
  10.  
  11. This patch (GWUSR1.EXE) is intended for Novell GroupWise 4.1a
  12. Remote for Windows.  It  corresponds with the GWUSC1 patch used
  13. to update 'domains' and post offices on a network.
  14.  
  15.  This 'remote' GroupWise patch is intended for remote systems
  16. (e.g. laptops).  This patch provides a means for these systems to
  17. be updated without connecting to the network.

  37. This patch fixes the following problems:
  38.  
  39.  * Custom Messages - under some conditions, the DLL associated
  40. with custom messages would not load, causing custom messages to
  41. fail.
  42.  
  43.  * Custom Commands - under some conditions, the DLL associated
  44. with custom commands would not load, causing the command to fail.
  45.  
  46.  * MAPI - would not work properly with Microsoft Access. Under
  47. some conditions, a GPF would occur.
  48.  
  49.  * Calendar Printing - In some cases, the printer orientation
  50. (landscape or portrait) was not being changed to match that of
  51. the form being printed.
  52.  
  53.  * Printing Multi-Image TIFF and Multi-Sheet Spreadsheet      
  54.  
  55.  * Attachments - When a user tried to print while viewing a
  56. multi-image TIFF file or a multi-sheet spreadsheet, only the
  57. first image or sheet would print. Now, the current viewed
  58.  image or sheet will print.

  71. Installation Instructions:
  72.  
  73. Before Installing the GWUSR1.EXE patch, make sure all Novell
  74. GroupWise/WordPerfect Windows applications are shut down.
  75.  
  76.  To apply the patch:
  77.  
  78.  1. From DOS (or a Windows DOS Box) set your current working
  79. directory to the directory that contains the files listed above.
  80. (NOTE: If you are in a Window's DOS Box, make sure
  81.  GroupWise is NOT running.)
  82.  
  83.  2. At the DOS prompt, enter the following command:
  84.  
  85.       PATCH path GWUSR1.RTP
  86.  
  87.  where 'path' is the drive letter and directory where the
  88. GroupWise executables are located.  For example, if OFWINFIL.EXE
  89. is located in C:\OFWIN40, you would enter the following command:
  90.  
  91.       PATCH C:\OFWIN40 GWUSR1.RTP
  92.  
  93.  This will patch the following files:
  94.    
  95.         OFWIN.EXE
  96.         OFWINFIL.EXE
  97.         VEWIN.EXE
  98.         VEWINFIL.EXE
  99.         README.WIN
  100.  
  101.  3. To patch GroupWise's MAPI.DLL, enter the following command:
  102.  
  103.       PATCH winpath\SYSTEM GWMAPI.RTP
  104.  
  105.  where 'winpath' is the driver letter and path to your Windows
  106. directory.  For example, if Windows is located on C:\WINDOWS, you
  107. would enter the following command:
  108.  
  109.       PATCH C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM GWMAPI.RTP
  110.  
  111.  If you patch your 'remote' workstation using this patch and, at
  112. a later time, connect directly with your network Post Office you
  113. will get a prompt when starting GroupWise indicating that a newer
  114. version is available and asking if you would like to update. 
  115. This prompt occurs because an entry in the Windows Registration
  116. Database is not updated by the remote patch.  To update the
  117. registration database (and avoid this prompt) you can (1) update
  118.  your workstation (again) using RMSETUP from the Post Office, or
  119. (2) modify the entry in the Windows registration database. 
  120. Modifying the registration database can be accomplished using the
  121. following steps:
  122.  
  123.  1. From the Program Manager's File-Run menu option, invoke
  124. REGEDIT.EXE using the /V switch.  (REGEDIT is located in the
  125. Windows directory.)
  126.  
  127.  2. Locate the Entry "\WPOffice40\VersionNumber".  The value
  128. associated with this entry should be 16 for GroupWise 4.1a.
  129. Change it to 19.
  130.  
  131.  3. Exit RegEdit saving the changes to the database.

  135.  --------------------------------

  137.  - If PATCH.EXE cannot locate a file to be patched, the following
  138. message will be displayed:
  139.  
  140.  Warning wpt0015: Old File does not exist.
  141.  
  142.  Warning wpt0036: Old file not found. However, a file of the same
  143. name was found. No update done since file contents do not match.
  144.  
  145.  This may indicate one or more of the following situations:
  146.  
  147.      *  You have deleted (or not installed) one or more files
  148. from
  149.         the original GroupWise 4.1a installation.
  150.  
  151.      *  You are attempting to patch the wrong version of
  152.         GroupWise. You may need to reinstall the original
  153.         GroupWise 4.1a files before applying this patch.
  154.  
  155.  - If PATCH.EXE determines that a file does not need to be
  156. patched,
  157.    it will report the following message:
  158.  
  159.      New Version of File FILENAME already exists.
  160.  
  161.  This may indicate that you have already applied the patch.  
  162. PATCH.EXE has verified that your software is up-to-date; you do
  163. not need to take further action.
  164.
