InfoCentral Recurring Events Utility
This Recurring Events utility is an add-on to WordPerfect InfoCentral.
It enhances the capabilities of InfoCentral by helping you to set up
appointments, events or meetings that repeat regularly. Please be
aware that since it is a separate utility, it has limitations. We
welcome your comments and suggestions for improvement. Your ideas
will help us to integrate this utility into future InfoCentral
releases.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Copy RECUR.MXE and UTILMENU.MNW to your local InfoCentral
directory (usually C:\WPIC10).
2. In InfoCentral, make sure you are on a NON-Calendar tab, then
click on File>Preferences>Menu, and select "Load Menu Structure".
Select UTILMENU.MNW.
Both your Calendar and Non-Calendar tabs will have a new "Utilities"
menu item just to the left of Help. Select Utilities>Recurring Events
to run the utility. Follow the prompts to create multiple
Appointments, Events or Meetings that recur in some kind of pattern.
NOTES:
* You will see dialog boxes flash on the screen after selecting
Appointment, Event, or Meeting. The utility is simply checking to
make sure the selected category exists before it continues.
* While running this utility, a dialog box asks you to specify
"Subsequent Events Occur Every:", and you can choose from the
following options:
1) Specified Number of Days - With this option the events are
separated by x number of days (e.g., every day, every other
day, every third day, etc.).
2) Week - The events are separated by seven days (e.g., every
Tuesday evening).
3) Specified Number of Weeks - The events are separated by x
number of weeks (e.g., the event occurs every other week, or
every three weeks).
4) Month (same Weekday) - The events occur on the same day of the
same week every month (e.g., the third Tuesday of the month).
5) Month (same Day) - The events occur on the same day of every
month (e.g., the 5th of every month).
6) Year - The events occur on the same day of the year (e.g.,
every April 1st). This would be good for birthdays,
anniversaries, etc.
* This utility does NOT handle non-US date formats.
* One limitation of this utility is that if you add new recurring
events while in the Calendar tab, the information will not display
on the Calendar until you click on a Non-Calendar tab, and then
come back to the Calendar. The added events are automatically
added to the display of Non-Calendar tabs.
* If you want to place the Recurring Events utility (RECUR.MXE) in a
different directory, you must edit the menu "Launch a Program"
command line to include the path and file name to RECUR.MXE. You
can do this by clicking on the menu item "Utilities" (it should be
highlighting Recurring Events) and pressing F12. Press Enter on
"Properties of this Menu Item". Make sure "Launch a Program"
(below) has the bullet in the radio button next to it, then click
OK. Change the command line "RECUR.MXE" to
"<Drive>:\<Path>\RECUR.MXE", then click OK.
* If you have already modified your current menu and would rather
not use the included menu (.MNW) file, you can follow the steps
below to add the Recurring Events utility to your current menu.
This must be done twice: once for the Calendar, and once for Non-
Calendar tabs. Note that you may skip to step #6 if you want to
add "Recurring Events" to an existing menu item.
1. Press the Alt key to highlight the File menu.
2. Highlight the menu item (e.g., Tools) after which you want to
add the "Utilities" menu.
3. Press F12.
4. Select "Add New Menu to the Right..." (or left if you want it
inserted before the currently highlighted menu).
5. For Selection, type "&Utilities" (or the name you want to call
this menu), and then click on "Sprout a Menu" under Actions
below. Note the "&" before a certain letter in the menu item
name is for the mnemonic character. Click OK.
6. Click on the Utilities menu or a different menu under which you
would like to add the Recurring Events utility. Press F12, and
select "Add New Menu Item Below". (If you already have other
menu items, move the cursor down to the position above the
place where you want to add the Recurring Events item, and then
select "Add New Menu Item Below".)
7. For Selection, type "&Recurring Events", and then click on
"Launch a Program" under Actions below. Click OK.
8. On the Command Line, type RECUR.MXE. Click OK. You should now
be ready to run the utility.
