  12. This file should be used to resolve the German (DE) PerfectOffice
  13. 3.0  for Windows Decompression error message that occurs for some
  14. users when installing PerfectOffice.  The POSETUP.EX_ file has
  15. been modified and is included in this patch.

  33. ISSUE:

  35. During the process of installing German (DE) PerfectOffice 3.0
  36. for Windows, the error "File Decompression Error" may occur. This
  37. problem does not happen to all users and is not isolated to
  38. Novell products.  This is a hardware problem related to caching
  39. data on the
  40.  computers Data BUS. 
  41.  
  42.  This problem can be worked around by using the DCMPDE.EXE file.
  43. This file has a new version of the POSETUP.EX_ .  This file will
  44. flush the Disk cache and attempt to decompress the files
  45. correctly.  If this file does not resolve the problem, obtain the
  46. InfoShare (Faxback) document #1663 by dialing 1-801-429-3239.

  61. Install Instructions for German (DE) PerfectOffice:
  62.  NOTE: If you have a diskette labeled SETUP (REVISED), you
  63.  already have this fix.
  64.  
  65.   1.  Create a temporary directory on the computer's hard drive
  66.  (ie., C:\INSTALL).
  67.  
  68.   2.  Copy the PerfectOffice 3.0 disk labeled  SETUP, to the
  69. temporary directory on the hard drive.
  70.  NOTE: Only copy the SETUP disk to the INSTALL directory, not the
  71.  entire disk set.
  72.        a.  If you have the CD copy the following files from the
  73. <CDROM Drive Letter>\POWIN30 directory to the newly created
  74. directory:
  75.   WPMIN_NL.OO1
  76.   SETUP.EXE
  77.   SHWIND20.DL_
  78.   IDAPINST.DL_
  79.   INSTRRF.DL_
  80.   INSTBOR.DL_
  81.   OBXINST.DL_
  82.   WPGIDE.HLP
  83.   INSTALL.LST
  84.   INSTALL.DAT
  85.   PO_DISKS.DAT

  87.  3.  Copy the new POSETUP.EX_ file, that was downloaded, to the
  88. INSTALL directory that was created in Step #1 above.  Confirm any
  89. messages that prompt you to replace any existing files. This step
  90. should replace the POSETUP.EX_ that was copied from the  SETUP
  91. diskette.

  93.   4.  Enter Windows.
  94.  
  95.   5.  Select File | Run | C:\INSTALL\SETUP.EXE.  This will run
  96. the
  97.  PerfectOffice installation from the hard drive.
  98.  
  99.   6.  Answer installation prompts as needed.  When the
  100. installation requires the remaining disks to be entered, insert
  101. the individual disks into the floppy drive as prompted.  The
  102. installation will require you to change the location of where the
  103. source disk is being read from, since the installation started
  104. from the hard drive.

  106.   NOTE: The progress bar may not accurately reflect the
  107. Installation progress.
  108.  
  109.   7.  If you have a partial installation on your hard drive and
  110. would like the installation to pick up from where you recieved
  111. the error.  You should use the startup option /skip_identical
  112.  when the new SETUP is run for the first time.  This will verify
  113. the date and size of the files that have already been installed
  114. and start the installation from where the error occurred without
  115. reinstalling those files.  Ex: File | Run | C:\INSTALL\SETUP
  116. /skip_identical.
