THIS AND THAT
By Gary W. Cox
The last meeting went well with an array of door prizes in the form
of surprise computer grab bags of which everyone who attended
received a bad containing some sore of computer prize! Furthermore
for anyone who wanted one we had half height floppy drives for
FREE. We also auctioned off various pieces of equipment including
PC's for between $2 and $3 each and working ST-225 20mb hard drives
for as low as $2 each! Beery Miller brought in a collection of
manuals and magazines including old 99'er magazines which were FREE
for the taking! Since it was hot outside we even had refreshments
for everyone... I still have a few items left over including some
20mb hard drives which will be sold at this months meeting. I also
have additional grab bag door prizes to be given out at this months
meeting as well.
I hope to gain yet more equipment for a future meeting for auction!
However, I never know when I am going to receive anything so it may
not be announced in the newsletter I may just show up with it!
Also remember if you have any broken equipment such as a console,
monitor or whatever please feel free to bring it to a meeting and
we will try to repair it. It doesn't matter if it is TI compatible
or even a computer we will sure give it a shot fixing it. However,
it would be a good idea to leave me a message on the BBS or give me
a call to let me know what you are bringing so I can bring any
appropriate test equipment...
As for this months meeting I am not sure yet what will be on hand,
we may have a packet HAM radio demo or we might have a hard drive
class where I will show how hard drives operate! It all depends on
whatfalls together in time... If at all possible please try to
attend a meeting as I have been putting a lot of time and effort
into getting various equipment to the meetings as well as door
prizes etc... It all goes to waste if no one takes advantage of it!
Please check your mailing label for a dollar sign ($). If you see
a dollar sign ($) on the mailing label your dues are past due as
the date on the mailing label is the date that you last paid your
dues. Please remember dues are $18 a year which is one of the
lowest dues of any group in town as some user groups charge up to
$30 a year! The majority of our dues goes toward paying for the
printing and postage costs of our newsletter each month thus the
reason that we do not mail our Technical Interface newsletter
(our second newsletter publication) as we can not afford the
postage and printing costs of doing so... However, Technical
Interface is available to anyone who wants it VIA mail for the cost
of mailing otherwise it is available at each meeting for FREE.
Anyway please check your mailing label to determine when your dues
are due.
Finally I would like to thank Marshal Ellis for the great job he
does each month putting the newsletter together! He spends a great
deal of time going through exchange newsletters pulling out
articles and putting them into our two newsletters! Marshal gets
the newsletter in printable format for me where I photo copy and
mail the newsletter. However, without Marshal we would NOT have
any newsletter at all! Being the editor of the newsletter is a
very tedious and time consuming job, we all owe Marshal a great
deal of thanks for his hard work!
C ya at this months meeting....
