  25.      Anyone in the TIworld owning a
  26.  disk system longer than a month who
  27.  has not contacted Jim Peterson at
  28.  TIGERCUB Software is leading a
  29.  deprived life.
  30.  
  31.      Jim has the largest collection of
  32.  stuff at the cheapest prices possible
  33.  for our amazing 4A.  He couples this
  34.  "best for the least" business with a
  35.  fantastic knowledge of the machine
  36.  and a kind, generous spirit.  No one
  37.  knows the BASIC and XB workings of
  38.  the TI better than Jim.  He is an
  39.  expert in everything!
  40.  
  41.      Mr.^TI, as he is known by his
  42.  thousands of admirers, seems to take
  43.  to his computer the way Jean Henri
  44.  Fabre took to ants.  He is meticulous
  45.  and creative and understands the soul
  46.  of the 4A.  I'm still in awe of his
  47.  skills and dedication and influence.
  48.  
  49.      There is no one in the entire TI
  50.  World (unless he or she has been
  51.  hiding under a rock since the 70s and
  52.  has just been handed a machine) who
  53.  has not felt the influence of the
  54.  mild-mannered, modest man.
  55.  
  56.      I've disembled hundreds of
  57.  programs with his fingerprints on
  58.  them: programming tools he has given
  59.  to us.  For years Jim provided
  60.  newsletters with free tutorials
  61.  called "TIPS FROM THE TIGERCUB" which
  62.  were (and are) so jampacked with
  63.  wonderful programming goodies that it
  64.  is hard to imagine what TI life would
  65.  have been without this marvelous
  66.  source.  In addition, he still sends
  67.  "CARE" disks to sharing newsletter
  68.  editors, along with numerous other
  69.  goodies.  He has also written the
  70.  ultimate tutorial on programming in
  71.  the form of subprograms that can be
  72.  easily merged into any XB program
  73.  (including a subprogram that makes
  74.  BASIC programs into XB programs).
  75.  These loaded disks of subprograms
  76.  (called NUTS && BOLTS) can be
  77.  purchased from him and readily used
  78.  with your own or other programs.
  79.  These Tigercub touches are what I see
  80.  on almost every good XB program
  81.  written for the TI in the past half
  82.  decade."

  84.      Jim has also written so many
  85.  programs for the Public Domain that
  86.  we just take for granted that these
  87.  kinds of programs have "always been
  88.  there."  They weren't. Until Jim gave
  89.  them to us.  There isn't a user group
  90.  library in the world that doesn't
  91.  have heaps of programs from Mr.^TI.
  92.  
  93.      He also wrote numerous
  94.  "commercial" pieces of software.
  95.  "Commercial" only in the sense that
  96.  they were for sale.  They were
  97.  low-priced and high quality in the
  98.  heydays of the 4A when everything was
  99.  high-priced and too often of
  100.  extremely poor quality.  Years later,
  101.  I still use a large number of his
  102.  programs in school (ANTONYMY,
  103.  SYNONYMY, MECHANICAL APTITUDE TEST,
  104.  SCRAMBLE, SQUINCH (a fiendish word
  105.  game), and many others).  I wouldn't
  106.  like to be without the other utility
  107.  and game programs that I've enjoyed
  108.  so much from Tigercub over the years
  109.  (particularly the unendingly
  110.  fascinating NUTS && BOLTS disks,
  111.  which I had the honor of demo-ing
  112.  (Jim wrote the remarkable demo
  113.  programs) at a recent computer fair.

  117.      The man's remarkable and is
  118.  universally liked (which is
  119.  remarkable unto itself).

  121.      [Jim's three NUTS && BOLTS disks
  122.  (with a wonderfully descriptive
  123.  manual/tutorial) are now only $10
  124.  each.  His five disks full of "TIPS
  125.  FROM THE TIGERCUB", a newsletter
  126.  editor's Godsend, are only $5 each.

  128.  refundable $1 for the catalog) are

  131.      Praising Jim's efforts on our
  132.  behalf is not the purpose of this
  133.  article. (It's just impossible to
  134.  write about Tigercub without doing
  135.  so.) The purpose of this article is
  136.  to tell you about the latest goodies
  137.  to come out of Tigercub.  Jim,
  138.  because of his huge number of TI
  139.  contacts (without a doubt more than
  140.  anyone else in the world), has been
  141.  able to put together the largest
  142.  collection of Public Domain and
  143.  Fairware programs, files, and
  144.  templates in existence.
  145.  
  146.      This PD extavaganza can be dipped
  147.  into by sending a refundable dollar
  148.  for this catalog.  ($2 for both the
  149.  Tigercub and TI-PD catalogs.)  Within
  150.  is an unbelievable world of goodies.
  151.  A 4A maniac's paradise! At only $1.50
  152.  per disk! Not per program.  Per FULL
  153.  disk! And that's postpaid!
  154.  
  155.      These disks do not contain a pile
  156.  of junk you'll never use, either.
  157.  They are selected from the thousands
  158.  Jim has in his library.  And they are
  159.  catalogued and sub-catalogued and
  160.  regrouped.

  162.      An example:
  163.      Interested in music?  Those are
  164.  the 600 series.  What kind of music?
  165.  Well, remember those great
  166.  graphic/music combos of Sam Moore?
  167.  600 is a disk called "SAM MOORE MUSIC
  168.  #1" (341 sectors).  It has 11 super
  169.  selections on it.  But there is also
  170.  a "SAM MOORE MUSIC #2" (343) and a 3
  171.  (348) and a 4 (337) before #604 moves
  172.  in "BILL KNECHT HYMNS" (334) and so
  173.  on.

  175.      You get the picture.  You get a
  176.  disk full of the kind of things you
  177.  want and can use: educational
  178.  programs, graphics, printer
  179.  utilities, typing, health, you name
  180.  it.  Games are broken down into so
  181.  many categories it's amazing.  There
  182.  are three full disks of card games,
  183.  alone.

  185.      All the programs now run in XB
  186.  and all come with the famous Tigercub
  187.  Loader, the forerunner of all the
  188.  good loader programs found elsewhere.

  190.      Jim even has games broken down by

  193.  GAMES", "FORMER COMMERCIAL GAMES",

  202.  disk file which teaches you how to
  203.  make your own light pen).

  207.  Children's Programming with Speech;
  208.  Sorts, Scrambles && Searches;
  209.  Auto-loaders; Calculators &&

  211.  Programs.  The list seems endless.

  233.  is the greatest TI giveaway of all
  234.  times.
