  4. Architectural monument of late Classicism. The 
  5. building, cross-shaped in floor plan, is stationed 
  6. on a stylobate, which is approached by a wide 
  7. staircase on the square side. A wide cornice is 
  8. dividing the main column into two tiers. The main 
  9. entrance is accentuated by a six-column portico. 
  10. The upper tier is decorated with colonnades. The 
  11. whole building is topped with a monumental 
  12. dome supported by a tetrahedral drum. The 
  13. interior design stands out for its originality. 
  14. Instead of a drum that is traditional for church 
  15. architecture, the sail-shaped vaults are 
  16. supporting a rotunda-colonnade that constitutes 
  17. the second story. The interior is decorated with 
  18. Corinthian columns, plastic cornices and 
  19. caissons.During the reconstruction of 1934 the 
  20. interior was divided by partitions and the loggia 
  21. glazed, to suit the needs of the |Arctic Museum|Custom1|W:170|.
