Rec.travel Library
ftp://ftp.cc.umanitoba.ca/rec-travel/home.html
The Rec.Travel Library at ftp.cc.umanitoba.ca is a collection of
travelogues, guides, and FAQs written by volunteers on the net. It
began as an archive site for the rec.travel newsgroup, and emphasizes
personal advice, recommendations, and opinions, providing a different
perspective from that given by many travel books. Approximately 15 MB
of documents are stored locally; information is organized
geographically and includes pointers to other information available on
the net.
Depending on where you are, you may get better network performance
through one of the mirror sites:
* Singapore gopher://gopher.technet.sg:2100/11/pub/NUS/misc/travel
* Singapore ftp solomon.technet.sg and look in /pub/NUS/misc/travel
* Thailand http://www.nectec.or.th/rec-travel/readme.HTML

GNN Travel Centre
http://nearnet.gnn.com/meta/travel/index.html
A good collection of pointers to information available all over the
Internet. It features up-to-date currency exchange rates, pointers to
many resources, and regular columns by professional and amateur travel
writers. These include the World Travel Watch weekly column by the
editors of the Travelers' Tales books, James O'Reilly and Larry
Habegger, a series of reports sent back by two people currently
travelling around the world ( Big World), and several others.

This is the top level of the "Virtual Tourist" project, an attempt to
