The new version (V1.9) of Directory Editor + Archie + Ftp (DEAF) is
available at:
ftp://dis.cs.umass.edu/pub/deaf.tar.gz
Youki Kadobayashi (youki-k@is.aist-nara.ac.jp) contributed the patch
to the last version (V1.8). New in this version:
o Optionally use readline.pl, which supports history recall,
filename expansion, and better input edit.
o Port to BSD/386.
Here is a brief introduction:
DEAF is a Perl script that provides the functionalities of
manipulating file/directory , querying Archie server and transferring
files in a full-screen fashion. Because of its embedded ftp
capabilities, DEAF does not only support file/directory operations on
local files/directories, it also allows most of those operations (like
view, edit, delete, rename, etc) to apply to the files/directories
which are located at remote machines. The search results from Archie
server can be directly used to retrieve the programs.
DEAF is based on termcap, it should work on Unix machines.
