  3. Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg was the German Commander-in-Chief at the eastern front. He won great victories at the <l:ev_tannenberg> and the Mausurish Lakes. He had several successful attacks in 1916 and 1917. In 1925 and 1932 he was chosen as president of the German Republic.
