  3. Unzipping WINPM222.ZIP produces three files: WINPMAIL.ZIP, a copy of this
  4. message, and WGUIDE.EXE (the online guide). To install Pegasus Mail v2.22,
  5. follow these steps (the examples assume that you are installing to C:\PMAIL).
  6.  
  7.    1: Run WGUIDE.EXE and read its contents thoroughly (VERY IMPORTANT!!)
  8.    2: Create the directory where you would like to install WinPMail
  9.          - example:      MKDIR C:\PMAIL
  10.    3: Copy WINPMAIL.ZIP into that directory
  11.          - example:      COPY WINPMAIL.ZIP C:\PMAIL
  12.    4: CD to that directory
  13.          - example:      C:<Enter> CD \PMAIL
  14.    5: Issue the command  PKUNZIP -d WINPMAIL
  15.  
  16. This procedure will create a directory structure with everything in the right
  17. place. Next, run Windows and create a program icon in the Program Manager
  18. which executes WINPMAIL.EXE, then double-click that icon.
  19.          - example:      C:\PMAIL\WINPMAIL

  22. ------- Updating from earlier versions of WinPMail to WinPMail v2.22 -------
  23.  
  24. You can update to WinPMail v2.22 in one of two ways:
  25.  
  26. 1: Unpack WINPMAIL.ZIP into its own directory then replace the copies
  27.    of WINPMAIL.EXE, WINPMAIL.DAT and WINPMAIL.HLP that you are currently
  28.    using with the versions contained in the new file. If you are running
  29.    under Novell NetWare, you should also replace the old version of
  30.    WPNNW3.DLL with the version in this file.

  32.    This update mechanism is recommended.

  35. If you prefer to run both the old and new versions together for a time,
  36. use method 2:
  37.  
  38. 2: Install WINPMAIL.ZIP as described in INSTALL.TXT, but place it in a
  39.    different directory from the version you are currently running. In
  40.    NetWare mode, this is all that is required; for standalone users, you
  41.    need to copy the files PMAIL.CFG and PMGATE.SYS from your current
  42.    WinPMail directory into the new version's directory so that it can
  43.    access your mailboxes and gateways. Note that PMGATE.SYS may not
  44.    exist on all standalone systems.
