- In the case of several of the POSIX subgroups, the alternative to having
- a POSIX committee settle on a standard by consensus is to have one of the
- crazies at NIST issue one by fiat. Those people have done a tremendous
- disservice to the computing community by forcing standardization of areas
- that are nowhere near ready for it. (They have *probably* made some
- positive contribution by pressuring the saner POSIX committees to actually
- get something out the door... but I don't think it makes up for the damage
- they've done.)
