  3. I've received the following clarification on the status of POSIX.2 and
  4. 9945-2 from Hal Jespersen, Chair of .2/.2a:

  6.     P1003.2 Draft 12 will be constructed from:
  7.  
  8.         P1003.2 Draft 11.3
  9.         P1003.2 May change list (trivial changes)
  10.         P1003.2a Draft 8
  11.         P1003.2a May change list (corresponds to the temporary
  12.                       Draft 8.05)
  13.         Editorial machinations to merge the preceding together
  14.  
  15. This means that P1003.2a is no longer a separate document, and has
  16. been merged back into P1003.2 (although still a separate option).
  17.  
  18. Therefore P1003.2 Draft 12 will be technically equivalent to the ISO
  19. Draft International Standard 9945-2.  This is great news, since there
  20. will be one, and only one, Shell and Utility standard.
