- X/Open is running a series of one day user group meetings to provide
- information and announcements on the X/Open branding programme
- and the use of VSX (the Verification Suite for X/Open).

- The second of these meetings will take place at X/Open's offices in
- Washington D.C. on May 21st.

- All prospective users and interested parties are invited to attend.
- Attendees will also include current VSX licensee's, distributors, and X/Open
- company users.

- 0930-10.00 Welcome and introductions James Andrews

- 1000-1100 VSX its development and implementation Tom Norris

- Tom will outline the VSX development process, and explain in simple
- terms how VSX works. Tom will also give a brief tutorial on the Test
- Environment Toolkit and its role in future test strategy.

- 1100-1200 Branding UNIX System V Release 4 Andrew Josey

- Andrew will relate his experience in branding UNIX SVR4. His talk
- will include illustrations of the practical problems of using VSX for testing
- prior to applying for the brand.

- 1200-1300 Making an application for branding Jenny Wilkinson

- Jenny will explain how to put together a branding application that meets
- X/Open requirements. She will outline the activities she undertakes in
- processing the branding application and the typical problems encountered
- and how they can be avoided.

- 1300-1400 Lunch

- 1400-1500 Test tool quality assurance and James Andrews
- test developments.

- James will outline the quality assurance techniques used by X/Open to
- qualify test tools prior to their release. He will summarise all the current
- release programs including a description of the test technology currently
- under development. He will also explain the quality assurance methodologies
- and procedures associated with branding to deliver to Users the
- confidence in the conformity of branded products.

- 1500-1600 XPG4 branding and application James de Raeve
- registration launch

- James will explain X/Open's future plans for the branding program, in
- particular the launch of XPG4. He will highlight the expected differences
- between the XPG3 and XPG4 brands. James will also explain the application
- registration scheme.

- 1600-1700 A test centre perspective TBD

- An X/Open test centre will present their experiences in the
- distribution of VSX and formal testing.

- 1700-1730 Questions and answers All Speakers

- All speakers will allow some time for questions, however this session
- gives you an opportunity to ask any burning question not answered
- earlier.

- Tom Norris is product manager of VSX at X/Open's VSX developer and
- manufacturer, UniSoft

- Andrew Josey manages the branding of UNIX System Laboratories'
- products including System V Release 4. He is the UNIX International
- representative at the X/Open Verification Working Group.

- Jenny Wilkinson is X/Open's branding administrator. She manages all
- aspects of the processing of branding applications.

- James Andrews is X/Open's Conformance Quality Manger. He is
- responsible for the quality of the branding program and project manages
- all test tool procurements and developments.

- James de Raeve is X/Open's Conformance Strategy Manager. He is
- responsible for all aspects of the branding programme and in particular its
- direction and development
