- Perennial, Inc., of Santa Clara, CA, announced an Early Access Program
- for PVS-2, a Validation Test Suite for POSIX.2 and .2a. This effort,
- already underway, will provide licensees with incremental deliveries of
- PVS-2, while it is being developed, at discounted licensing fees.
-
- Perennial is using the Test Environment Toolkit (TET), under joint
- development by UNIX International, Open Software Foundation, and X/Open,
- as the test harness. The test methods are derived from IEEE Std 1003.3-1991,
- and P1003.3.2 Draft 6. Additional test methods will evolve as P1003.3.2
- nears finalization and ballot in mid-1992.
-
- Besides obtaining early access to the test suite, participants
- will be provided continuous technical support, and be allowed to
- provide technical review of the suite, on a voluntary basis,
- as it is developed.
-
- PVS-2 will cover all testable assertions for POSIX.2 and .2a.
- Approximately 5000 assertion are expected for POSIX.2, and another
- 3500 for POSIX.2a. By comparison, the PCTS from NIST for POSIX.1-1988
- covers approximately 2000 assertions.
