  3. Since the end of October 1990, there has been no funding for moderation
  4. of the newsgroup comp.std.unix and its associated mailing list
  5. std-unix@uunet.uu.net.  Since that time, I have sought such funding
  6. from several user groups, the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE/CS), the
  7. IEEE/CS Technical Committee on Operating Systems Standards Subcommittee
  8. (TCOS-SS), and various private companies.  No funding is forthcoming.
  9. As I remarked three months ago, I cannot afford to moderate the newsgroup
  10. as a volunteer.  I have solicited volunteers, but no one has thus far
  11. come forward.

  13. So, this is a final call for a volunteer moderator, responses to be
  14. received at std-unix-request@uunet.uu.net by 15 February 1991.

  16. If there is:
  17. * one volunteer, that one will become the new moderator;
  18. * more than one volunteer, the last one to apply will conduct a vote
  19.     by USENET rules to determine who becomes the moderator;
  20. * no volunteer, the newsgroup will become unmoderated.

  22. I will not discriminate among applicants:  all are equally valid,
  23. regardless of qualifications.

  25. Arrangements for archives and interconnection between the newsgroup
  26. and the mailing list will have to be worked out by the new moderator,
  27. if any.
