  3. Here is a list of PARs (Project Authorization Requests) that were
  4. submitted by IEEE/CS TCOS (IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee
  5. on Operating Systems) to the IEEE Standards Board.  This list was
  6. distributed 19 April 1990 by Jim Isaak, TCOS Chair, so that people directly
  7. associated with the TCOS SEC (Standards Executive Committee)
  8. would see it before the recent IEEE/CS TCOS SEC meeting in
  9. Snowbird, Utah.
  10.  
  11. The whole list of PARs was sent to the Standards
  12. Board so that the SB would have such a list in time for its May
  13. meeting.  Certain PARs were *not* approved at the Snowbird SEC
  14. meeting, and Isaak notified the Standards Board that those should
  15. be removed from the list.
  16.  
  17. No action was taken by the TCOS SEC on 1003.15, 1003.13, 1201.4,
  18. and 1201.1, that is, they weren't actually submitted and so were
  19. not approved.  1003.16 and 1003.17 were approved, 1201.2 I believe
  20. was approved, and 1201.3 was rejected.  If this summary is not correct,
  21. I trust someone (Shane?) will post a correction.

  23. Also note that this is not a complete list of every committee sponsored
  24. by TCOS (such a list will be posted in the next week or so).  This
  25. is a list of new PARs considered by the SEC at their January and
  26. April meetings; in other words, it is mostly the famous dozen new
  27. projects approved in January in New Orleans.

  29. Finally, note that the SEC at their meeting in Snowbird approved
  30. a set of criteria to apply to PAR acceptance before they considered
  31. any PARs.  That set of criteria was previously posted as an article
  32. with Message-ID: <662@longway.TIC.COM>, Date: 2 May 90 21:33:16 GMT,
  33. and Volume-Number: Volume 19, Number 97.

  53.     Here is a list of the PAR's, and status; those lacking the
  54. first 4 digits are 1003.x numbers.  In summary: out of the 23 PAR's
  55. we have enclosed:
  56.      14 are in the proper format and signed    
  57.       8 in the proper format, and NOT signed
  58.        (I will send signatures next wk; 3 of these have "separate"
  59.         signature pages)
  60.       1 (1201.2, Lin Brown) will be FAXed directly to your office.

  62. the Titles, where applicable, have been altered to match both ISO and IEEE
  63. guidelines .... these are listed below.
