- Here is a list of PARs (Project Authorization Requests) that were
- submitted by IEEE/CS TCOS (IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee
- on Operating Systems) to the IEEE Standards Board. This list was
- distributed 19 April 1990 by Jim Isaak, TCOS Chair, so that people directly
- associated with the TCOS SEC (Standards Executive Committee)
- would see it before the recent IEEE/CS TCOS SEC meeting in
- Snowbird, Utah.
-
- The whole list of PARs was sent to the Standards
- Board so that the SB would have such a list in time for its May
- meeting. Certain PARs were *not* approved at the Snowbird SEC
- meeting, and Isaak notified the Standards Board that those should
- be removed from the list.
-
- No action was taken by the TCOS SEC on 1003.15, 1003.13, 1201.4,
- and 1201.1, that is, they weren't actually submitted and so were
- not approved. 1003.16 and 1003.17 were approved, 1201.2 I believe
- was approved, and 1201.3 was rejected. If this summary is not correct,
- I trust someone (Shane?) will post a correction.
-
- Also note that this is not a complete list of every committee sponsored
- by TCOS (such a list will be posted in the next week or so). This
- is a list of new PARs considered by the SEC at their January and
- April meetings; in other words, it is mostly the famous dozen new
- projects approved in January in New Orleans.
-
- Finally, note that the SEC at their meeting in Snowbird approved
- a set of criteria to apply to PAR acceptance before they considered
- any PARs. That set of criteria was previously posted as an article
- with Message-ID: <662@longway.TIC.COM>, Date: 2 May 90 21:33:16 GMT,
- and Volume-Number: Volume 19, Number 97.
-
- The remainder of this message after my signature is verbatim from
- Jim Isaak's letter to the Standards Board. It is posted here with
- his approval.

- Terry deCourcelle,
- Here is a list of the PAR's, and status; those lacking the
- first 4 digits are 1003.x numbers. In summary: out of the 23 PAR's
- we have enclosed:
- 14 are in the proper format and signed
- 8 in the proper format, and NOT signed
- (I will send signatures next wk; 3 of these have "separate"
- signature pages)
- 1 (1201.2, Lin Brown) will be FAXed directly to your office.
-
- the Titles, where applicable, have been altered to match both ISO and IEEE
- guidelines .... these are listed below.
-
- I expect that at next week's meeting I can get proper format
- copies and signed versions of all of these.
