  8. Every suggestion for doing this that we received or thought up had
  9. problems.  The biggest problem is that there would need to be some
  10. central registry for the names, and X3J11 is not in a position to
  11. operate one.  Frankly, I think we want to strongly encourage you to
  12. give up system-dependent hackery and program portably, for which
  13. the issue is moot.
