  1. This is the first article in Volume 15 of comp.std.unix.
  2. These volumes are purely for administrative convenience.
  3. Feel free to continue any previous discussion or start new ones.

  5. The USENET newsgroup comp.std.unix is also known as the ARPA Internet
  6. mailing list std-unix@uunet.uu.net.  It is for discussions of UNIX
  7. standards, particularly of IEEE 1003, or POSIX.  The moderator is
  8. John S. Quarterman, who is also the institutional representative of
  9. the USENIX Association to the IEEE P1003 Portable Operating System
  10. Interface for Computer Environments Committee (commonly known as
  11. the UNIX Standards Committee).

  15. The host cs.utexas.edu may be used in place of uunet.uu.net.

  36. Volumes 1-10 are filed under the former newsgroup name, mod.std.unix,
  37. as ~ftp/pub/mod.std.unix.v1, ~ftp/pub/mod.std.unix.v2, etc., through
  38. ~ftp/pub/mod.std.unix.v10.  Volume 3 contains the AT&T public domain
  39. getopt(3).  Volume 10 is a special index volume that catalogs Volumes 1-9.
