- Some of you may wonder why there are two POSIX workshops
- back to back on opposite coasts.
-
- The NBS workshop (20-21 October, D.C. area) is actually more of a
- presentation, since NBS intends to present the work they've done on
- making a POSIX FIPS, and related work. They hope for a somewhat
- marketing-oriented attendee list, and for comments on what they have
- done and what they are planning to do. According to Roger Martin of NBS.
-
- The USENIX workshop (22-23 October, in Berkeley) is for application and
- interface implementors. The idea is to get them to talk to each other
- about common approaches in order to produce more uniform implementations,
- to discuss difficult problems, to provide feedback to the P1003
- Working Group, and also to present work already done. According
- to Jim McGinness.
-
- Both "according to"s might better be "as told to jsq" and the
- wording is mine, not theirs.
