  1. Some of you may wonder why there are two POSIX workshops
  2. back to back on opposite coasts.

  4. The NBS workshop (20-21 October, D.C. area) is actually more of a
  5. presentation, since NBS intends to present the work they've done on
  6. making a POSIX FIPS, and related work.  They hope for a somewhat
  7. marketing-oriented attendee list, and for comments on what they have
  8. done and what they are planning to do.  According to Roger Martin of NBS.

  10. The USENIX workshop (22-23 October, in Berkeley) is for application and
  11. interface implementors.  The idea is to get them to talk to each other
  12. about common approaches in order to produce more uniform implementations,
  13. to discuss difficult problems, to provide feedback to the P1003
  14. Working Group, and also to present work already done.  According
  15. to Jim McGinness.
