  6.                    POSIX Portability Workshop

  8.                        October 22-23, 1987

  10. This USENIX workshop will bring together system  and  application
  11. implementors  faced  with  the  problems, "challenges," and other
  12. considerations that arise from attempting to make their  products
  13. compliant with IEEE Standard 1003.  The first day of the workshop
  14. will consist of presentations of brief position papers describing
  15. experiences,  dilemmas,  and  solutions.  On the second day it is
  16. planned to form smaller focus  groups  to  brainstorm  additional
  17. solutions,  dig  deeper into specific areas, and attempt to forge
  18. common approaches to some of the dilemmas.  Suggestions for topic
  19. areas and position papers include:

  21. C Language Issues                       Internationalization
  22. Networked/Distributed Implementations   Pipes and FIFOs
  23. Timer resolution, ranges                Signals
  24. Conformance verification                Security concerns
  25. Job control, process groups             Limits: documentation and inquiry
