  48. USENIX publishes ";login:  The USENIX Association Newsletter"
  49. bimonthly.  It is sent free of charge to all their members and
  50. includes technical papers.  There is a USENET newsgroup,
  51. comp.org.usenix, for discussion of USENIX-related matters.

  53. They also publish an edition of the 4.3BSD manuals, and they
  54. occasionally sponsor experiments, such as methods of improving
  55. the USENET and UUCP networks, that are of interest and use to
  56. the membership.  They distribute tapes of contributed software
  57. and are pursuing expanding that activity.

  59. There is a USENIX Institutional Representative on the IEEE P1003
  60. Portable Operating System for Computer Environments Committee.
  61. That representative also moderates the USENET newsgroup comp.std.unix,
  62. which is for discussion of UNIX-related standards, especially P1003.

  94. articles by industry leaders and observers, technical issues,
  95. standards coverage, and new product announcements.

  98. products and services developed specifically for the UNIX operating system.
  99. "/usr/digest" is also published by /usr/group.  This newsletter covers
  100. product announcements and industry projections, and is sent to members
  101. biweekly.

  103. /usr/group has long been deeply involved in UNIX standardization,
  104. having sponsored the "/usr/group 1984 Standard", providing an Institutional
  105. Representative to the IEEE P1003 Portable Operating System for Computer
  106. Environments Committee, and sponsoring the /usr/group Working Groups
  107. on areas that P1003 has not yet addressed.  They have recently produced
  108. an Executive Summary of the POSIX standard and funded production of a
  109. draft of a Rationale and Notes appendix for that standard.
