  41. USENIX publishes ";login:  The USENIX Association Newsletter"
  42. bimonthly.  It is sent free of charge to all their members and
  43. includes technical papers.  There is a USENET newsgroup,
  44. comp.org.usenix, for discussion of USENIX-related matters.

  46. They also publish an edition of the 4.3BSD manuals, and they
  47. occasionally sponsor experiments, such as methods of improving
  48. the USENET and UUCP networks, that are of interest and use to
  49. the membership.  They also distribute tapes of contributed software
  50. and are pursuing expanding that activity.

  52. There is a USENIX Institutional Representative on the IEEE P1003
  53. Portable Operating System for Computer Environments Committee.
  54. That representative also moderates the USENET newsgroup mod.std.unix,
  55. which is for discussion of UNIX-related standards, especially P1003.

  85. having sponsored the /usr/group Standard, providing an Institutional
  86. Representative to the IEEE P1003 Portable Operating System for Computer
  87. Environments Committee, and sponsoring the /usr/group Working Groups

  117. AUUG holds biennial conferences, usually of 2 days each:
  118. the next one will probably be in late February 1986.
  119. They publish a newsletter (AUUGN) at a frequency defined
  120. to be every 2 months.

  123. There are similar groups in other parts of the world, such as Japan and
  124. Korea.  If such a group wishes to be included in later versions of this

  128. Also, DECUS, the Digital Equipment Computer Users Society,
  129. has a UNIX SIG (Special Interest Group) which participates
  130. in its meetings, which are held twice a year.  The next
  131. one will be in Nashville, Tennessee, 27 April - 1 May 1987.
