- There has long been a controversy over what should appear in the From:
- header line of articles in a moderated newsgroup. There is of late
- a larger group wanting that line to contain an address of the original
- submittor, rather than of the moderator. There has even been some
- discussion of the pros and cons in the moderators' mailing list.

- So, I'm going to try it and see what happens. Reactions are solicited.

- I'll point out one implication at the outset:

- There is no single address format that will be acceptable everywhere
- these articles are received. This is partly because the newsgroup
- mostly goes to places where host!user makes sense while the mailing
- list mostly goes to places where user@domain makes sense. What I
- will put in the From: line will be whatever the submittor supplied.
- Don't be surprised if an attempt at replying directly fails.
