  83. <h1>Set a Device Password</h1>
  84. <p>You can set a device password to protect all of the tokens stored on 
  85.  your local hard drive. The device password can contain from 1 to 20 characters. 
  86.  If you need to protect tokens stored on another device, see <a href="protectingtokensonthirdpartydevice.htm">Protect 
  87.  Tokens Stored on Devices Other Than the Hard Drive</a>.</p>
  88. <p class=Note><span style="font-weight: bold;"><B>Note:</B></span> If your administrator 
  89.  has disabled the Change Device Password option, you cannot set, change, 
  90.  or remove a device password.</p>
  91. <p>Once you have set a device password, the application prompts for the 
  92.  device password the first time that you perform a protected operation 
  93.  with a token. For example, you must enter the device password after you 
  94.  enter a PIN, rename a token, or when you attempt to delete a token. You 
  95.  are prompted for the device password only once during your session.</p>
  96. <p class=Note><span style="font-weight: bold;"><B>Important:</B></span> Be sure 
  97.  to memorize your device password. If you forget it, you will not be able 
  98.  to use your tokens, and you will have to reset your device and request 
  99.  new tokens. For more information, see <a href="forgotdevicepassword.htm">Forgot 
  100.  device password</a>.</p>
  101. <p class=p>For added security, you may want to <a href="change_device_password.htm">change 
  102.  the password</a> periodically. You can also <a href="remove_device_password.htm">remove 
  103.  the password</a>, but keep in mind that this removes the additional protection 
  104.  from your tokens. </p>
