- VIRUSAID (C) 1992, RUSS REESE
-
- "VIRUSAID" is a shell program that makes use of the virus protection software
- by Mcaffee and Associates. I got the idea to write VIRUSAID when I downloaded
- another shell program that was written for EGA video and I was unable to use
- it on a mono monitor.
-
- I decided that I would make a simple shell program that would make available
- the basic features of Mcaffee's "SCAN" and "CLEAN" programs in a menu driven
- environment, so that users of those programs could use them with out having to
- remember the syntax. I specifically wanted to make a program that could be
- run on any (or most) video adapters.
-
- "VIRUSAID", uses the following files:
-
- 1. VIRUSAID.EXE
- 2. SCAN.EXE
- 3. CLEAN.EXE
-
- If you do not have the "SCAN" and "CLEAN" programs (By Mcaffee) then you
- should inquire about them wherever you got "VIRUSAID". You should try to
- obtain the most recent versions available.
-
- USING VIRUSAID
-
- The easiest way to use "VIRUSAID" is to place the files listed above in a
- directory together on a hard or floppy disk. Then at the command prompt type
- the word VIRUSAID then press enter. You can also have these files in separate
- directories if you wish, however, if you do then they must be in directories
- that are listed in your path statement (see your DOS manual if you need more
- info on path statements).
-
- FAIL SAFE
-
- You should make a copy of the three programs listed above on floppy diskette
- and cover the write protect notch and keep it in a safe place. In the unhappy
- event that your system becomes infected, it may corrupt your virus protection
- files, thus preventing them from being able to detect and/or clean the virus.
-
- REGISTRATION
-
- I'm new at this and I need input. A note saying that you use the program will
- encourage me. Also if you have any suggestions for upgrading "VIRUSAID" , I
- would be glad to hear them. A contribution of any amount would be
- appreciated, and will get you a free copy of the next version which will
- include the use of VSHIELD (Mcaffee's TSR protection), but please write even
- if you aren't contributing. Like I said, I need the input... Thanks for
- trying VIRUSAID.
