  14. Overview
  15. --------
  16. SP Services are pleased to announce the new and greatly enhanced version
  17. of BackDesk for Windows, the popular desktop enhancement suite for 
  18. power users. BackMenu and BigDesk, originally released in 1991, started
  19. the trend for pop-up menu launchers and virtual desktops and still
  20. offer powerful control of the Windows desktop environment without
  21. unneccessary clutter. The addition of BackDrop introduces many new
  22. possibilities.

  24. BackMenu
  25. --------
  26. BackMenu makes a fully configurable pop-up menu just a mouse click
  27. away. Primarily a program launcher, it also has a wealth of other
  28. features including a disk browser, Windows restart/exit, system info,
  29. screen-saver starter and many more.  The menu is a simple text file
  30. that anyone can edit using just Notepad, but which can include any
  31. degree of simplicity or complexity including nested menus, chained
  32. menus from other files, accelerator keys and an advanced set of
  33. commands to position, size and control the windows of launched programs.

  35. BigDesk
  36. -------
  37. BigDesk introduces a virtual desktop to enlarge the available screen
  38. space up to 64 times. Using a simple "map" view, any running program can
  39. be quickly located without having to sift through heaps of overlayed
  40. windows. A particular desktop layout can be saved and then reloaded at a
  41. later date. Windows can be made to stay 'on top' or to stick with the
  42. virtual desktop.

  44. BackDrop
  45. --------
  46. BackDrop is a new subsystem that makes it possible to create desktop
  47. 'Alias' buttons for programs and files just by dragging from File Manager
  48. and dropping on the desktop. These 'aliases' then accept drag and drop
  49. themselves, offering a fast and intuitive way of working under Windows.
  50. Aliases can use the full power of the BackMenu command syntax. A set of
  51. tools is also provided including a dustbin, an automatic wallpaper
  52. changer and a utility to turn any Program Manager group into a pop-up
  53. menu.

  56. ----
  57. WRun allows Windows programs to be launched from a DOS prompt under
  58. Windows.  The package also includes WCopy and WPaste, to allow text to
  59. be exchanged between the DOS command prompt and the Windows clipboard -
  60. redirect the output of most DOS programs to the clipboard.
