  1. WinShell 1.4 - README.TXT
  2.  
  3. To install WinShell, perform the following steps (exit Windows first):
  4.   1. Copy the WinShell files into the WINDOWS directory 
  5.      on your machine
  6.  
  7.   2. Edit the file SYSTEM.INI in your WINDOWS directory:
  8.     - Look for the [boot] section
  9.     - Replace the line "shell=progman.exe" with 
  10.       "shell=winshell.exe"
  11.      This will set WinShell as your standard Windows shell.
  12.  
  13.   3. Rename TASKMAN.EXE in your WINDOWS directory (e.g. to WTASKMAN.EXE), 
  14.      to be able to switch back to the standard Windows task manager
  15.  
  16.   4. Rename TASKMAN.WSH (part of this WinShell distribution) 
  17.      to TASKMAN.EXE
  18.  
  19.   5. Start Windows and select the Program Manager group that
  20.      you want to display icon buttons for (using "Set Button Group"
  21.      in the "Options" menu)
  22.  
  23.   6. For additional assistance, select "WinShell Help" in the 
  24.      "Help" menu
  25.
