  5. Please read the following lines carefully, before using this software. Should you
  6. disagree with the following, then you are not allowed to use this program. You 
  7. MUST then delete it and never use it.

  9. Shareware-version
  10.  
  11. You have the right to test this program for the period of one month. You are 
  12. allowed to copy this Shareware-version (and ONLY the Shareware version) and give
  13. it to any other person, as long as it is not modified in any way. Under modifi-
  14. cations we understand the changing, adding or removing of any files of this 
  15. package without the author's written permission. You are NOT allowed to pack
  16. this program together with a commercial program or a book. Shareware dealers are
  17. allowed to sell the Shareware version for a small fee (below US$ 10.-). You are
  18. encouraged to put this program on as many BBS systems as possible.

  20. Usage of this software after the trial period of one month is in violation of 
  21. international Copyright law! Also it is unfair against the author, who spent
  22. hundreds of hours writing this program.

  26. This program is neither freeware nor public domain. A use after the 30 day trial
  27. period requires registration. The registration fee only costs SFr. 30.- (=US$ 20 
  28. with a good exchange course, or US$ 30.- if you want to send US funds) for a
  29. personal licence.

  31. Full version (personal licence)

  33. The full version may be installed on as many computers as desired, as long as it
  34. is ONLY running once at a time (I.e. one installation at home and one at the
  35. office used by the same person). The usage by multiple persons at the same time
  36. (on multiple computers) requires additional licences.

  38. Multiple licences (additional licences)
  39.  
  40. Additional licences allow an institution, company or school to install the
  41. program on multiple computers or on a server. It must be guaranteed that the 
  42. program does not run on more machines at the same time than there are licences 
  43. purchased. All licences are issued to the same (company) name, which appears in
  44. the program's title bar. Additional licences cost SFr. 20.- for the 2nd to 10th
  45. licence, SFr. 15.- for the 11th to the 20th licence. For larger amounts please
  46. contact the author. Additional licences allow the usage of the program at home,
  47. as long as the main use is at the company.

  49. Legal domicile is Bern, Switzerland.

  51. Liability

  53. We try to keep our software as bug-free as possible. But it's a general rule
  54. (Murphy), that no software ever is error free, and the number of errors increases
  55. with the complexity of the program. That's why we cannot guarantee that this
  56. software will run in each environment, on any Windows compatible machine, 
  57. together with any other application, without producing errors. Any liability for
  58. damages of any sort is hereby rejected. In any case, the liability is limited to
  59. the registration fee.

  61. Please test this program with non-critical data, we cannot make guarantees for
  62. the security of your data. Should you detect errors before registration, you
  63. accept them if you register. Any description of bugs will be accepted, but we
  64. cannot guarantee that we will be able to correct them.

  66. Development of Windows Commander
  67.  
  68. Windows Commander was written with Turbo Pascal for Windows 1.5 (⌐ 1991 by
  69. Borland International). The Drag&Drop-algorithms, especially the undocumented
  70. parts, were found in the very good book "Undocumented Windows", Andrew Schulman,
  71. Addison Wesley 1991. The DPMI-handling for setting the volume label was taken
  72. from the book "Turbo Pascal fⁿr Windows - Object Windows", A. Ertl/R. Machholz,
  73. Sybex 1992. The screen layout was imitaded from the Norton Commander (⌐Symantec).
  74. All code from the German issue WinDOS was removed and rewritten for Copyright
  75. reasons.
