  7. Voice Clock! is a Microsoft Windows program whose purpose is to announce the
  8. time of day at 1 minute, 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour intervals, using 
  9. digitized human speech reproduced through a sound card or by using Microsoft's 
  10. Speaker Driver for 286 - 486 computers.  The program will function in 
  11. all Windows modes: real, standard, or enhanced.

  13. There are 4 files in the archive:

  15.        VCLOCK.EXE   -  Voice Clock executable.
  16.        VCLOCK.NDX    -  Voice File Definition.
  17.        VCLOCK.SND    -  Voice File.
  18.        README.TXT    -  This file.

  20. INSTALLATION:

  22. To install the program, simply copy all files into the same directory.
  23. Start the program as you would any other windows program (i.e. create
  24. a program item in Program Manager, or select File/Run from the Program 
  25. Manager menu and type VCLOCK.EXE preceded with the full pathname).

  27. NOTE: All previous Voice Clock 1.0 series version files should be deleted.

  29. VOICE QUALITY:
  30.  
  31. Voice quality is dependant of your computer system.  Although, Microsofts'
  32. Speaker Driver works well with most 386's and 486's; there's no
  33. substitute for a sound card.

  35. This product was developed on a 486DX-25, 8mb RAM, and SoundBlaster Pro.

  37. CLOCK OPTIONS:
  38.  
  39. Voice Clock has three desktop modes: 
  40.  
  41.     (1) TITLE BAR WINDOW - In this mode the time is displayed in 
  42.         the current title window. The announcement interval may be set 
  43.         to 1, 15, 30 or hour, by default it is NONE.

  45.     (2) DESKTOP CLOCK - When set, a small window clock will appear. Time 
  46.         will announced based on system settings. 
  47.  
  48.     (3) NONE- No clock present-time will still announce if system settings
  49.         are set.
  50.  
  51. When the program is first started, a logo banner will appear for about 10 
  52. seconds.  A Voice saying "Have You Registered?" will be announced for un-
  53. registered versions. The banner will disappear and the clock will appear. 
  54. A clock will now appear which can be used to change preferences.  At 
  55. this point, Voice Clock is running with default settings. If you want to hear 
  56. an announcement without waiting for the defined time interval, place the mouse 
  57. cursor over the LARGE WINDOW FORM and depress the mouse button-"Voice Clock!"
  58. will announce the current time.

  60. This program was originally written as a tool to help me keep up with the time 
  61. while programming or working under Windows. After using other "digital voice 
  62. clocks," I felt it necessary to produce my own to incorporate more options 
  63. and greater sound quality.

  65. I showed it a few friends of mine (they loved it) and the rest 
  66. is history!  Many other businesses have used this program when billing clients 
  67. while working in windows based programs. It has served as a complement
  68. to many business packages.

  72. possible. You may feel "Hey! This program would be good if it only had..."

  76. without overhauling the entire code and will be made available to

  79. Version 2.0, although complete, does not take full advantage of the 
  80. Multimedia extensions.

  83. next release, Voice Clock! Pro, featuring many new enhancements.
