  4. LANVIEW is part of the new generation of utilities started by
  5. McAfee Associates with PRO-VIEW(tm) and PRO-VIEW for Windows(tm).
  6.  
  7.      LANVIEW allows you to perform PRO-VIEW's unique low-level
  8. system functions over remote workstations on a network.
  9.

  11. HOW IT WORKS
  12.  
  13. To allow LANVIEW to access workstations, install LVREMOTE on
  14. each workstation.  LVREMOTE is a memory resident (TSR) program
  15. which acts as an interface between workstations and LANVIEW.
  16.  
  17. LANVIEW and LVREMOTE can be run on any IBM PC or compatible
  18. computer which uses the IPX/SPX protocol, such as Novell NetWare.
  19.  
  20. NOTE:  LVREMOTE and LANVIEW should NOT be installed on
  21.        the same workstation.

  23. To start LVREMOTE type:
  24.  
  25.         LVREMOTE
  26.  
  27. at the DOS prompt.  LVREMOTE will then be installed in the
  28. computer's memory.
  29.  
  30. LVREMOTE has following options:
  31.  
  32.     /Nxxx  - Sets workstation name to "xxx"; where "xxx" is any
  33.              combination of alphanumeric symbols no more than 32
  34.              characters long.
  35.  
  36.              NOTE: The LVREMOTE name option does not change any of
  37.                    the workstation's existing names or addresses
  38.                    and is only used to identify the workstation
  39.                    while LANVIEW is active.
  40.  
  41.     /Pxxx  - Sets workstation access password to "xxx"; where "xxx"
  42.              is any combination of alphanumeric symbols no more than
  43.              32 characters long.
  44.  
  45.     /U     - Unload LVREMOTE from memory.
  46.  
  47.     /+     - Enable LVREMOTE (default option).
  48.  
  49.     /-     - Disable LVREMOTE but remain resident in memory
  50.  
  51.     /?     - Show command-line options.

  54. To start LANVIEW type:

  58. at the command prompt.  This will start LANVIEW.

  65. This release of the LANVIEW is purely experimental; we have no idea
  66. how useful or powerful this tool will be, or even how dangerous.  We
  67. only know that LANVIEW represents a new concept in network computing
  68. and can be used to accomplish many things.

  70. So, please feel free to experiment with LANVIEW and give us your
  71. feedback on in.

  73. IMPORTANT:  This version of the LANVIEW has all the edit routines
  74.             disabled.  We think this is a good idea, at least for this
  75.             experimental release.  So, don't be afraid about possible
  76.             data loss, LANVIEW WILL NOT WRITE TO YOUR COMPUTERS' DISKS 
  77.             OR MEMORY.
