  7.      Welcome to BACK SOON! Version 2.0, the message-taking utility for
  8.   the busy home or office.  Here is the latest news and other important
  9.   information regarding the program.

  12.      USING BACK SOON! ON A NOVELL NETWORK
  13.      
  14.      Back Soon! will run on a Novell Network.  To prevent broadcast
  15.   messages from the network server from interfering with Back Soon!,
  16.   temporarily disable them by typing CASTOFF ALL from the command line
  17.   before running Back Soon!  To re-enable the messages, use the command
  18.   CASTON after exiting Back Soon!

  21.      USING BACK SOON! WITH OTHER PROGRAMS
  22.      
  23.      If you use WordPerfect 5.1, Quattro Pro 3.0 to 5.0, or WordStar 7.0, 
  24.   macros are provided on the program disk for automatically running Back 
  25.   Soon! from within these programs.
  26.   
  27.      Back Soon! is simple to use from within almost any program, with
  28.   or without a predefined macro.  Simply choose your applications "Shell
  29.   to DOS" command (this may be called something like "Run a DOS command"
  30.   or "Go to DOS") and specify Back Soon! as the command to be executed.
  31.   If your application sends you to the DOS command line, start Back Soon!
  32.   as you normally would, then type EXIT at the command line when you have
  33.   finished using Back Soon!  You'll be returned directly to your application.

  41.  Notes for Back Soon! Version 2.0:

  43.  Version 2.0 adds three major enhancements -
  44.  
  45.  - Graphics.  In addition to scrolling a message and playing simple
  46.    melodies, Back Soon! can now display virtually ANY type of graphics
  47.    or animation.  See the file APPENDIX.TXT for details.  The shareware
  48.    version includes two sample animation sequences produced with AutoDesk
  49.    Animator; the registered version includes additional animation.  Add-
  50.    on graphic images (scenery, celebrities, etc.), animation, and even
  51.    customized scans of your own photos are available from Tay-Jee Software.

  54.  - Event Scehduler.  Back Soon! can now perform unattended tasks such as
  55.    tape backups, Email transfers, etc., while you are away through the
  56.    Event Scheduler.  See the file APPENDIX.TXT for additional instructions.

  58.  - Multilingual Support.  Back Soon!'s text message system has been 
  59.    adapted for multilingual use.  Currently, Spanish and German are
  60.    supported; additional languages are palnned for future release.

  65.  Notes for Back Soon! Version 1.5:

  67.  Version 1.5 adds two major enhancements -

  69.   - Music.  In addition to scrolling a message, Back Soon! v1.5 now
  70.     has the ability to play simple musical selections.  To activate
  71.     the music feature, add the switch "/u" to the command line at
  72.     startup.  The music files (extension .CM1) included on the
  73.     archive should be located in the Back Soon! directory.  When
  74.     the music feature is activated, Back Soon! will alternate scrolling
  75.     your message down the screen and playing, at random, one of the
  76.     musical selections included, until a key is pressed.

  78.   - User Menu.  After entering your message retrieval code, you now
  79.     have numerous options instead of simply reading your messages and
  80.     exiting the program.  You can simply check your messages and leave
  81.     Back Soon! running, temporarily go to DOS, change the scrolling
  82.     screen message, or toggle music on and off as well.

  84.  Version 1.1 adds two minor features -

  86.   - the scrolling message now is displayed within a box, instead
  87.     of a bunch of ragged lines

  89.   - the message nows scrolls faster if you're using an MDA or
  90.     Hercules video mode (monochrome monitors are usually more

  104. The MIRROR program, when loaded as a TSR, conflicts with Back Soon!
  105. Most often this manifests itself as a loud continuous tone when trying
  106. to enter a message, after which the Back Soon! locks up.
  107.  
  108. A solution to this problem is to unload MIRROR just prior to starting
  109. Back Soon!  Use the command
  110.  
  111.      MIRROR /U
  112.  
  113. You must make sure that MIRROR is the last TSR to be loaded, and be sure
  114. to re-load MIRROR after exiting Back Soon!
