  6. DESCRIPTION

  8. IconDOS is a graphical application launcher for DOS that is similiar to
  9. Windows's Program Manager, complete with icons and wallpaper.  IconDOS
  10. is practical and efficient.  Zero (0) resident memory is required so
  11. launched applications are guaranteed to work the same as if run directly
  12. from DOS.  Multi-page icon menus and sub-menus provide virtually
  13. unlimited menu size.  Other features include a built-in clock, calendar,
  14. screen saver, over 100 pre-drawn icons, 20 different wallpapers and a
  15. graphical editor for producing custom icons and wallpaper.  VGA graphics
  16. is required.  A mouse is required for setup and editing.  Following
  17. setup, IconDOS operates equally well using either keyboard or mouse.

  19. IconDOS is being marketed as shareware.  Registered users ($25 fee)
  20. receive an additional 200 "best of Windows" icons, additional wallpaper
  21. and a utility to display 16 color .PCX graphics files and capture icons
  22. from the screen.  This utility provides an indirect but workable path
  23. for converting Windows icons to IconDOS.

  25. DOCUMENTATION

  27. The included documentation, ICONDOS.DOC and ICONEDIT.DOC, are ASCII file
  28. "books" designed to be read using the included hypertext style file
  29. browser, BOOK.EXE.  Please read the documentation before using the
  30. software by typing:

  32.               BOOK ICONDOS.DOC ...or... BOOK ICONEDIT.DOC

  34. When reading a book:
  35.  
  36. - Use Pg-Up and Pg-Dn keys to move through the document.
  37.  
  38. - Type a page number and press ENTER to jump to a specific page.  Type
  39.   "0" and ENTER to return to the previous page.  Links between pages up
  40.   to 10 levels deep are automatically built and made available for the
  41.   reader's use in this manner.

  43. - Use Home and End keys to move to the start/end of the document.
  44.  
  45. - To scan for a particular word or phrase (40 characters or less); press
  46.   "S" and enter the text when prompted.  Press ENTER to complete the
  47.   entry and begin the search or press ESC to abort.  Searching is case
  48.   insensitive.  If the word or phrase is found, press "R" to repeat the
  49.   search and look for the next occurance.

  51. - Press "A" to align the page boundaries with the screen after scrolling
  52.   with the arrow keys or after searching.

  54. - Press "M" to set a bookmark at the current page, press "K" to return
  55.   to the mark.
