- NOTE!
-
- The original version of this program was developed by:
-
- Micrological Designs
- P.O. Box 2295
- Stillwater, OK 74076
- 3/15/88
-
- Since that date, PC-Pursuit has opened several outdial nodes and
- changed some of the exchanges accessible in each of the outdial cities.
-
- PCPCHEK provides a method for updating the outdial/exchange lists --
- described in the file PCPCHEK.DOC.
-
- Nothing in PCPCHEK.DOC suggests that PCPCHEK is copyrighted. I presume
- that it is in the public domain. Thanks, Micrological Designs!
-
- The updated version included in PCPCHEK6.ZIP is based on the list of
- outdials/exchanges posted 7/22/92 on the PC-Pursuit BBS in Reston, VA.
- The file EXCH.LST contains all of the area codes and exchanges included
- in EXCHANGE.ARC on that bulletin board as of that date.
-
- The format of EXCH.LST allows for updating PCPCHEK if and when
- PC-Pursuit revises or adds to the number of outdial area codes and
- exchanges. The file PCPCHEK.DOC explains how updates are accomplished.
-
- ------
-
- Special Note: As of this writing, the Sacramento (CASAC) and Chicago
- (ILCHI) outdial nodes appear to be in a state of change by the local
- telephone companies. Some exchanges require dialing 8 digits in the
- pattern 1-XXX-XXXX, and some may require 11 digits in the pattern
- 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX (including the area code). Other cities may have
- similar requirements for some exchanges as the telephone companies
- expand and open new area codes.
-
- If you find that PCPCHEK says a particular outdial/exchange is
- supported by PC-Pursuit but you cannot make connection, look in the
- file EXCH.LST (exchange list) to see if special dialing
- instructions are included.
-
- ------
-
- In all ordinary cases the program provides a quick and reliable way to
- determine accessibility of an exchange via PC-Pursuit, limited only by
- the degree of accuracy of the exchange list used as a source of
- reference. It is offered for your convenience and efficiency in
- using PC-Pursuit.
-
- Good luck!
