  16. This file was written for the beginner to calling card
  17. hacking in mind.

  20. A calling card is a service by B.C. Tel, which is a plastic
  21. card with a 14 digit number on it. When a person who
  22. applied for it gets it, they can charge long distance
  23. calls to the number on their card. Until recently,
  24. calling card hacking was impossible, because the holder
  25. had to tell the operator the number. But now, B.C. Tel
  26. is encouraging hackers (I use that term loosely) to
  27. hack other peoples card numbers.

  30. Requirements:

  33. Anyone with a touch tone phone (a must), and an IQ of
  34. more than thirty can hack calling cards.

  37. How To Do It:

  40. O.K., this is the format of calling card numbers:
  41. area code+phone number+a four digit random number.
  42.  
  43. Say you order a calling card, and your home phone
  44. number is 444-5555, your calling card would be:
  45.  
  46. 604 444 5555 XXX where X is a random number.
  47. So, the first thing you need to start hacking, is the phone
  48. number of someone who owns a calling card. This
  49. shouldn't be too much of a problem, because many people
  50. have calling cards these days, and a little snooping
  51. around (your dad's friends,etc.) will usually reward
  52. you with one.A little advise: look in the phone book
  53. for the phone number to some big company: Times Colonist,
  54. etc., note the phone number, and use that, they
  55. probably have many cards for their reporters, who
  56. have to call in from thier assignments.

  58. Once you have one, instead of going thru the
  59. operator, you use what's known as a diverter.

  61. For calls within B.C.:

  64. Dial 0+number you want to call+ (after tone) the
  65. calling card number.

  67. For calls outside B.C.:

  70. Dial 0+area code+number you want to call+(after
  71. tone) the calling card number.

  75. If you make an error, hit #,wait for the tone, and then
  76. enter your card number again.

  78. I suggest you start from 0000 and go to 9999. I know
  79. it might take a while, but it's worth it,
  80. considering you can rack up a >$1000 phone bill, and it
  81. can't be traced back to you.

  83. I also suggest that when you get a valid number, that
  84. you don't charge $50 and then leave it alone, because
  85. when the next phone bill comes, and the company says
  86. they didn't do it, tel will know it's been hacked,
  87. and change the number, so it's better to have the number
  88. changed after you've done some major phreakin, than if
  89. you've only done a bit, so go all out.

  92. How to get the most out of your hacked card:

  95. 1: Wait until your phone bill comes, and then start
  96. using it, so you'll have a whole month to phreak.
  97.  
  98. 2: Once your number goes dead, start hacking with
  99. the same phonee number, because they changed the
  100. random number, not the phone number. And this saves you
  101. the trouble of looking for another one.

  103. Check your phone bills from past and future for info
  104. on using a calling card, because Tel will probably
  105. advertise it, if you don't understand this file.
