- CELLINFO.EXE - What is it???
-
- I know that you are a scanner freak or you wouldn't have downloaded a
- file like this. CELLINFO.EXE is a utility, offered to the public domain, to
- provide the user with vital information about the cellular telephone that he
- would happen to be listening to at any given moment- provided that your scan-
- ning radio is capable of recieving that type of stuff. This program is NOT a
- TSR- at least not in this primitive version. When called upon, this program
- executes and waits for input of the cell-transmit frequency of the call that
- you are listening to. The program then provides the following information:
-
- Cellular Band (A or B)
- Receive Frequency
- Global Cellular Number
- Cell Network Number
- Cell Channel
-
- The program then waits for input again. If you are through, then just
- press <return> and the program terminates.
-
- DUHH... How useful is CELLINFO???
-
- "What can I do with this kind of information?", you may ask. Well, if
- you were a real scanner freak, you could use this data to map out all of the
- cellular telephone towers in your area and later use this information to
- instantly know where somebody is when you hear them!!! Pretty neato misquito
- stuff coming from a free program!
-
- Legal Junk and Social/Moral Ethics:
-
- Yeah, I know that listening to Cellular Telephone conversions could get
- you busted if you were to get caught. I also can understand that is ethically
- and (for the most part) socially unacceptable to participate in this type of
- activity. This utility is for educational purposes only.
-
- Programming Techno-Gibberish:
-
- Rather than having a database of the frequency table for the U.S.
- Cellular Telephone Standard, I chose to use simple mathematics and boolean
- logic to supply the output for the program- which helps to decrease the size of
- the EXE file. The original code was written in BASIC and then compiled into an
- EXEcutable, but I know that the finished program would have been somewhat
- smaller had I written it in a higher language, but I'm too lazy...
-
- Compliments? Kudos? Complaints?
-
- If you have ANYTHING to say to us about this program- good, bad or
- otherwise, then you can write, call or write us E-Mail on most Charlotte-area
- BBS's...
