  12. "What the hell is a Sperm box?"  That's usually the first 
  13. question I get when I talk about this simple creation.  It is 
  14. a simple device that allows you to create an audio jack from an 
  15. exposed phone box on the side of someone's house.  With this, 
  16. you can plug in a microcassette recorder and record conversations, 
  17. or just silently listen in with a pair of headphones. Also, the sperm
  18. box can be used as a rock box to play music over your own phone lines, 
  19. just hook up a radio or CD player.  :)  This simple box is also used 
  20. as an adapter in many other boxes, but the exact structure was never 
  21. clearly stated until now.  This box is great for beginners because 
  22. of it's simplicity.

  25. What You Need:
  26. 1)Two 6" wires (red and green)
  27. 2)Audio Jack (both stereo and mono will work)
  28. 3)Two Alligator Clips (with rubber covers)
  29. 4)Small container (Empty Chapstick containers work well)
  30. 5)Sodering Iron
  31. 6)Soder
  32. 8)Washer
  33. 7)Electrical Tape

  36. Step One:

  38. Strip the ends off both sides of your two wires, and attach alligator clips 
  39. to one end of each wire, a red clip, and a green clip.  Now, attach the other ends of 
  40. the wires to the audio jack.  It is very difficult to explain where to attach the wires 
  41. due to the fact that there are many different jack designs.  Just experiment with the wires 
  42. until you find which wires goes where.  This process should only take you a few minutes, and 
  43. it's probably the most difficult process of building this box.

  46. Step Two:

  48. Once you have identified the placement of the wires, soder them into place, 
  49. and set it aside to let it harden.  In the mean time, take your empty 
  50. chapstick container, and remove the bottom twist dial by either pulling, 
  51. or poping it off with a knife.  You can throw away this piece, because it 
  52. is not necessary for the design.  Next, take the lid for the chapstick container, 
  53. and make a slit down the edge of the cap.  Once you first slit is done, make 
  54. another just beside the first, about 1/4 inch away from the first to creat a slot.

  57. Step three:

  59. Drop the Audio Unit (Audio Jack and Wires with clips) into the chap stick container though
  60. the top so the audio jack is facing down. Grab the jack with your fingers, and pull the cylindrical 
  61. end of the jack though the hole.  Place a washer over the jack, then place a screw over the washer to 
  62. hold the jack in position on the end of the container.

  67. Gently put the cap on the end of the chapstick container, allowing the wires to escape through 
  68. the slot you made in the cap.  Finally, wrap some electrical tape around the cap and tube to both 
  69. keep the cap on, and give your sperm box a sleek look.  You should be able to push the wires back into
  70. the slot for storage.

  75. How do I use it?
  76.  
  77. Well, the Sperm box is very simple to use.  Just go to your victim's house, and locate the distribution
  78. box for their telephone on the side of their house.  It's usually a gray box just a few feet above 
  79. ground level.  Now, open up the box by pulling upward, and attach the green alligator clip to the 
  80. green wire, and the red alligator clip to the red wire.  Plug in head phones, and you can listen in 
  81. on conversations without being heard.  Also, you can hook up a microcassette recorder to record conversations
  82. for whatever purpose you wish.  :)  If you want to use this as a rock box, simply attach it to your own
  83. phone, and plug your audio output device into it.  This will play music over the phone line.

  87. Why Make a Sperm Box?

  89. The Sperm box is ideal because it can be used with many other boxes such as beige and tan boxes.  
  90. This is a valuble tool because of it's compact size (pocket size) and it can be incorperated into different 
  91. boxes to save you the time of constructing the same adapter in different boxes.

  94. Why the hell is it called a sperm box?!?!

  96. Well, I named this device the sperm box because of the prototype's appearance.  Instead of using red 
  97. and green wires with matching clip covers, I used white (It was the only thing I had around the house). 
  98. These wires kinda looked like sperm.  :)
