The radio receiver follows this process in reverse. An antenna detects the signal. The radio waves travel down an antenna until they hit the receiver, which separates the carrier signal from the sound signal, filters out the carrier signal, amplifies the sound signal, and converts it back into sound waves, which emanate from a speaker.
