  5. John Huston's The Asphalt Jungle; in Los Angeles. Maddow's
  6. biting, ironic prose filled such films as Intruder in the Dust
  7. and The Unforgiven. In his 1968 biography for United Artists,
  8. Maddow delineated his career progress after graduation from
  9. Columbia College: "unemployed intellectual -- discovered evil;
  10. hospital technician -- discovered effluvia; scenario writer --
  11. discovered money."
