  3. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  6.         Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
  7. should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's
  8. commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs
  9. easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the overhead
  10. is low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back
  11. guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.

  14. Registration has a number of benefits to you:

  16.        The main advantage registered SCC users have over the ShareWare
  17. copy is by receiving the latest update and enhancements such as extra MENU
  18. items, finer change control, enhanced annotated view, edit capability,
  19. an integrated environment etc. etc. Registration will also give you a
  20. newsletter about SCC improvements, a printed manual, minimal fee updates,
  21. free technical support, along with the latest release of the program.

  23. program for your use.

  32.         You may call or write for support services. Unless the problem is
  33. relatively complex, you will get the best results by calling. If you write,
  34. please include a phone number and the times when you will be available. Our
  35. response to written questions is much slower.

  38. back "collect".  With reference to calls, if we do not call back, please
  39. remember that about 20% of our call backs do not get completed because of

  260. Difference Between the Evaluation and Registered Versions

  263.      Some of the MENU's and help messages of the program are different, to  
  264. reflect the program's registered vs. evaluation status.

  266.      The evaluation copy of SCC will remind you that you need to register
  267. and invite you to fill out an order form. I'm just hoping you'll get tired
  268. of having to type that every time you START and send for the registered copy.

  271.      WARNING: Before installing this or ANY new software, you should BACK
  272. UP any valuable data on your computer system. SCC has been extensively
  273. tested and it is believed to be very reliable. However, software is one of
  274. the most complicated kind of product there is. So you are completely

  295.      Users of SCC must accept this disclaimer of warranty:
  296. "SCC is supplied as is.  The author disclaims all warranties,
  297. expressed or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of
  298. merchantability and of fitness for any purpose. The author assumes no
  299. liability for damages, direct or consequential, which may result from
  300. the use of SCC."

  302. SCC is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the user
  303. for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends, but please
  304. do not give it away altered or as part of another system.  The essence
  305. of "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer users
  306. with quality software without high prices and yet to provide
  307. incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.  If you
  308. find this program useful and find that you are using SCC and continue
  309. to use SCC after a reasonable trial period, you must make a
  310. registration payment to Walter Erickson (Softime Systems). The
  311. registration fee will license one copy for use on any one computer at
  312. any one time.  You must treat this software just like a book.  An
  313. example is that this software may be used by any number of people and
  314. may be freely moved from one computer location to another, so long as
  315. there is no possibility of it being used at one location while it's
  316. being used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by two different
  317. persons at the same time.

  319.      Commercial users of SCC must register and pay for their copies of
  320. SCC within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn. 
  321. Site-License arrangements may be made by contacting Walter Erickson
  322. (Softime Systems).

  324.      Anyone distributing SCC for any kind of remuneration must first
  325. contact Walter Erickson (Softime Systems) for authorization. This
  326. authorization will be automatically granted to distributors recognized
  327. by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for shareware distributors,
  328. and such distributors may begin offering SCC immediately (However
  329. Walter Erickson of Softime Systems must still be advised so that the
  330. distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest version of SCC.).
  331. None of the copies have any  software or physical copy-protection
  332. schemes.

  334.      You are encouraged to pass a copy of SCC along to your friends for
  335. evaluation.  Please inform them to register their copy if they find
  336. that they can use it.  All registered users will receive a copy of the
